Difference between consultation & talking about an event?
If a visitor has interest in nectar 3 and heart 3, and the event is for people interested in nectar & heart, what is the difference between talking to the visitor for a consultation, vs talking to the about the event?

I would like to know this too. I think the events are a truly compelling idea, but other than flavour text, I can't figure out a significant effect from them.

Incidents pay more as it narrows that requirement down to only one aspect.
Normal incidents pay 2 while normal consults pay 1
Numa incidents pay 4 while numa consults pay 2(?)

Actually they pay 4 (Silver is 4, tin is 3. They always give a silver one),but yes, across the table, event consultations pay double

I have gotten events with more than one aspect. My most recent one was a nectar/heart event (which came with a nectar/heart visitor). This is non-numa.

Good to know on the payment--yeah I got a Tin from consulting on this event. I feel like usually its bronze for a normal consultation?

No, you must be getting it wrong. Bronze is the usual for the event, iron is a non-event non-numa consultation. UNLESS you triggered something special. Yes, guests might be looking for a special thing for which they pay 4. Had a guy come for a recording of the invisible opera and me refusing to buy it before because I didn't have a phonograph.

I flipped the reward and it was a tin. It was for a nectar/heart event received in a non-numa season. Don't know what to tell ya, I didn't screenshot it so no proof. Maybe in the logs?
