Numa and Lessons
Are Lessons lost after Numa passes lost forever? I had a book that gave 2 Lessons and I've used up one of them before the other one burned up at the end of Numa. The tooltip warns about it but I wonder if its a permanent Skill Upgrade loss or there is a way to gain it back?

You get back wildcard lessons, not skill-specific lessons. The number of lessons you get is equal to the number of lesson/memory slots needed to re-level the skill minus 1. For example, leveling from 1 to 2 takes 2 lessons/memories, then from 2 to 3 it takes 3 lessons/memories, for the total of 5. Deleveling a level 3 skill gives back 1 less lesson than that, that is it gives back 4 lessons. If you throw in 1 memory, you can re-level the skill back, but there'd be nothing left over. If you use 2 memories, there is 1 excess lesson. Efficiency improves at level 4, but you need enough prepared persistent memories or elements of the soul to spin up new memories during numa to do this with higher level donor skills without reducing their level after the ritual is done.

The wildcard lessons are not persistent, and will be lost when the next day starts. There is also a glitch where you can start deleveling a skill in numa just before dawn, in which case you get the wildcard lessons after dawn and they persist for one more day (outside numa).

In principle. Note that most crafting doesn't need high level skills, since you have 5 slots and Keeper recipes need intensity of 15 in the target principle, for the average of 3 per slot. With the right ingredients, it's usually possible to get enough without relying on skill level that much (or at all). Books have more use for skill levels, but only care about the principles, so for mastering books there is no use for multiple high level skills that share the same principle.

you can also consider uncommitted skills during numa to reset them back to zero and get a number of lessons back. at higher skill levels the number of lessons you get is greater then you put in so assuming you can relearn them all in one day you can generate free lessons.

You can get back the lost potential skill levels, but you need to convert at least one lesson into a skill to gain that skill first.

The way to gain skill levels without lessons is by deleveling an uncommitted skill at level 3+ in numa (it reduces to level 1 and isn't lost). This way you get back more wildcard lessons than it takes to re-level it back if you use 2+ memories. The remaining lessons can be used to level up other skills.

If you were to perform the same action on a level 1 skill, then it's lost, converted to a lesson. This is rarely worthwhile and carries the risk of never regaining that skill. Also, lessons from other skills can be used to level up a skill (not just in numa) if they share a principle.

Game gave impression that I need to match the skill with lesson to progress, this probably lets you lvl skill up a lot faster.

Is it possible to level up all of the skills to lvl 9 in one playthrough?
