This game is in dire need of replay value
I keep looking at this in my library and thinking maybe I aught to play it again, but there's just no actual reason to do so. Every ending is functionally the same, every route to it is the same steps. I decided to boot up Cultist Simulator again and while I don't miss the often unfair randomness, I still love that there is a bigger variety of ways to play. The Priest doesn't play like the Dancer, the Lantern, Forge, and Grail major victories feel unique, the Exile is...A total mess, but it's different. I want that for BoH. I want the game to ask me to do something different to get a new ending, not just pick my particular color of ink.

Cultist simulator had more content than Book of hours, it also got 4 piece of additional content over two years. Book of hours isn't even a year old yet (and is a bigger game in scope in a lot of ways that make content generation take longer) and hasn't even received it's first expansion yet (can't wait for house of light)

Book of Hours (launch edition) is about three times bigger than Cultist (launch edition) by word count, four or five times bigger when you include all the art and words. HOUSE OF LIGHT is almost another novel's worth of text.

But we made CS to have replay value, and we made BH to be a play-once experience. It's great that some people want to play it through more than once, but it's 30 hours at least to finish a first playthrough. They both appeal to different sides of our fan base (Lantern vs Rose? Winter vs Heart?) and I regularly see negative reviews on one from people who loved the other.

WF III (current codename) will be different again. 🙃

Don't upside down smiley face! I love both games! and will probably like the next one. and have beaten neither cause of ADHD brain but they're so good!
also interesting to see that book of hours has that much more text than CS, and that even people that agree can have different definitions of what "content" means. always interesting to be confronted by my own implicit biases.

I do have an issue with book of hours' UI because the cards are the worst of all worlds for someone like me with bad eyesight and ADHD. when's they're too big they take up too much of the screen and cause issues with finding things and doing things cause ADHD but shrinking them makes them borderline unreadable because eyesight. putting this here cause I never did remember to submit formal feedback on that.
anyway <3 from me at least

I'd argue BoH is more replayable than core CS to be honest. 3 basic ascensions were incredibly similar, and none of DLC goodness or even Apostles were originally there.

House of Light looks very promising so far. I just really hope the cooking system will get a better interface than crafting one -_-

Love BoH but would not probably play it again through and through due to content being exhausted in 1-and-around-half run so same here.

It's definitely a game where you have to find your own reason to give it another go, eg I got two more playthroughs worth of mileage than I otherwise might have just in the course of looking for ways to optimize the wisdom tree. Might do one more someday in the course of collecting lore, definitely will do a new run for the upcoming expansion.
