A couple of side questions then.
First, is there a huge downside if you can't a book for your guest that they want? Well I guess huge might be a bit exaggerated, since I don't think anything in the game can actually hurt you. I even tried letting the drowning thing at the start expire, but it just kept refreshing itself. But will your guest like curse you or something if you fail to get them something?
And second, can you lend a guest your journal? I never tried it and am just wondering if you can.
As for lending your journal, I have no idea but its Mystery is always lower than any guest would accept so I guess no? A good idea to try out...
The House of Light expansion is planned to have the results of Situations change depending on who you help (or don't), so it may be something to think about if you care about resolving situations "correctly", but for now, don't stress if you can't help someone.
To the second, your Journal only has 1 Mystery of whatever Principle, and every guest I've seen wants a book with at least 3, so I don't think it can ever satisfy a request.
