How can you get more books?
I know you can get books by finding them in rooms you open and the auction, but are there other ways to get books? Like can you order books somewhere or have people/guests bring books? It feels like a library, even a really weird cult one, should have ways of getting books from the outside world. I mean we know there is crazy stuff going on in the world from the stories guest tell us.

The only way to get books is by unlocking the rooms of the House, and waiting for offers from Oriflamme's; however, it's not necessary to collect all of the books in the game in a single run, and it's not even necessary to Master all of them for Lessons to get an ending. Doing so, especially on a first run, will take a very long time, because you need to keep one book of each period Uncatalogued (in the blue/yellow/green/pink/purple wrapping) until you've exhausted Oriflamme's (it will offer you the same book over and over when its run out of others), and then catalogue those 5 books for the last 5.

Those are the only ways then?

A couple of side questions then.

First, is there a huge downside if you can't a book for your guest that they want? Well I guess huge might be a bit exaggerated, since I don't think anything in the game can actually hurt you. I even tried letting the drowning thing at the start expire, but it just kept refreshing itself. But will your guest like curse you or something if you fail to get them something?

And second, can you lend a guest your journal? I never tried it and am just wondering if you can.

No major downsides except you don't get money from them.
As for lending your journal, I have no idea but its Mystery is always lower than any guest would accept so I guess no? A good idea to try out...

To the first, no, not that I'm aware of; your guests won't retaliate if you don't give them a book, and (currently) there is no penalty for failing to help every person for any given Situation. Sometimes, it may be better to spend a Spintria and have them teach you a Language, rather than give them a book.

The House of Light expansion is planned to have the results of Situations change depending on who you help (or don't), so it may be something to think about if you care about resolving situations "correctly", but for now, don't stress if you can't help someone.

To the second, your Journal only has 1 Mystery of whatever Principle, and every guest I've seen wants a book with at least 3, so I don't think it can ever satisfy a request.

I see, also I admit it kind of went over my head that the journal only has 1 point in its mystery, I always see the icon on it and assumed it had more than 1 mystery, even though all the books have numbers on their mystery.
