found a secret compartment
hello y'all, I recently found a secret compartment and I was wondering what else is there to find, hidden in the Library ?
the compartment I found is in the first floor of the Watchman Tower (the observatory tower), under the pillar between the 2 windows, just click on the big stone block.
I found the Numen already

Well, I didn't know it was a possibilite until now. I click the compartment you talk about and find a Gervinite
Gonna search for more things, I will keep you up!

OK I FOUND SOMETHING!
At the Westcott Room, click at the square in the wall at the left close to the grid bookshelf, you will find Black Dove Wine

Andddd I found one more thing, but that it's for now.
At the Librarian's Quarters I find a secret compartment at the left of the fireplace, inside it there is a book "Journal of Sir David Greeen, 1903"

Wow, nice work, took a hasty look around but didn't spot anything myself. The book is a huge find, not on any lists I checked, not on the wiki either, has some pretty juicy lore. Wonder if these are the secrets added with the last update? Might be nothing (or a bug) also but I happened to notice the description for the Mazarine Room was changed very slightly after the latest update, the phrase "Kitty's pride, and the House's joy." is now enclosed by #s.

Hidden panels aside, you can find a bronze spintria by considering the Delightful Repose couch in the Grand Ascent - Ground Floor, any Glinting Cranial Tchotchke can be considered for a Dearday Lens, and the Lumpy Melodic Chair in the Fludd Gallery is hiding a Pale Mommet.

Thanks for the hits! All new to me! the only chair I knew that was something was a chair/armchair/sitting thing in the Librarian's Quarters that gives you a fear memory and lore.

Maybe the book is something new with the update since nothing was found in the Wiki. And indeed, what a juice lore! Make me wonder more about Sir Green.
I must confess I'm a very distracted person, so the changes in description will pass me unnoticed. And I'm very, very, very lost in all of the game, I thing I start to understand it now, in my 3th playthrough, haha.

According to my notes it's the Nighted Chair in the Severn Chamber that gives Fear: 'Someone died in this chair,' I find myself thinking. There are no stains or remains; there is nothing at all to suggest that this might be true. The only other unusual furniture-related memory I can recall is the weapons in the Edge-long cell all give Contradiction.

It's sheer coincidence I noticed the change in the Mazarine Room, I'd just copied down that room's description shortly before the patch happened.

Oh, that is NEW. Must be some of the stuff the devs hinted at to being hidden in the new patches. Gonna keep an eye out.

One hiding-place I'm obsessed with is the idea that there could be something behind one of the paintings or other wall hangings. I've moved a lot of them to check behind, but never found anything.

AK, if you see this, there's a new place to hide a secret! (Unless there is one and I just haven't found it yet)

On the the topic of free memories, the Watchful Potted Plant in the Infirmary gives you Memory: Scent without having to dissect it.

I remembered three more:

Pretty well known at this point, but if you click the title on the main menu, it takes you to a hidden folder with files that give a lot of lore. (If you can read the old-timey cursive)

There's a secret ending in the game if you craft a Winter determination, and then offer your book to the Yew tree alongside a Wist in winter without making a Winter History.

Also pretty well known, but if you put all the Librarian busts on the Grand Ascent in the proper order then you get an achievement and a free Element of the Soul card.

Man, I had this paranoia even before I knew there were secret panels.

This is also true for Paradise Palm, which is available very slightly earlier in the Grand Ascent - Ground Floor.

Another easy to miss, object-oriented, renewable memory generation tool is the Basket of Towels in the Infirmary and Stores--if you swim and use them they'll generate both a Solace and Salt and then become a Basket of Damp Towels which will automatically revert back to Basket of Towels every morning. Just be extra careful not to discard them at the beach/boathouse instead :stymphling:

I would also caution against swimming during winter. Icy water gives you sickness instead of solace. (You do still get Salt, though.)

The perils of playing a very old save: I have played this game for 170 hours and I did not know you can go swimming. It's an addition from after this save started and I had to throw objects away at the boathouse and shore so it would update with the swimming description.

Went and checked and either the towels prevent this or it's random. (Also discovered you apparently can't go swimming at all--at least from the beach--during storm weather.)

Another useful source of sense memories are the chair and (I think) the stool in the Violet Chamber, which give Memory: Sound, meaning that you have renewable sources for all the senses except for taste.
