What do the numbers on the order form mean?
I've received the Cater & Hero order form and I can order a bunch of stuff now, but all the orders say stuff like "Copper Wire (2/-)", "Glue (6D)", "Umbrous Oil (1/6)". What does the stuff in parentheses mean?

I was wondering this myself, so I did a little testing just now. The numbers appear to be the price in shillings and pence. For example:
Copper Wire (2/-) costs 2 shillings (24 pence total)
Glue (6D) costs 6 pence
Umbrous Oil (1/6) costs 1 shilling and 6 pence (18 pence total)

This all seems to be correct although I am unsure what the D stands for. Maybe it's an antiquated way of writing prices.

Also, as part of this testing, I learned that you can put more than one item on the order form by just using it on the desk again. I had initially assumed that you could only do one at a time.

Ahh, good to know, thanks for testing.

If anyone was curious, I did a small amount of googling and found out that this is, in fact, an antiquated way of writing prices. The D is short for denarius, which was a Roman currency, but I guess the British thought it was cool and so started using it as an abbreviation for pennies.

I have noticed this too, but I think it affects how long things take to arrive. When I order one thing I tend to get it in a few days, when I ordered five it took weeks.

When I tried doing that to get two quires of paper, what I got was actually just one for the price of both. Was that just a glitch on my end?

I've never tried to order two of the same thing, possibly that doesn't work.
Doesn't seem to, just got a package and someone ate my second ham.

Now that's them doing their research.

I can actually remember prices still being marked as 'd' for pence on hand made signs in shops. Especially one sweet shop owned by an elderly couple. We still had the old coins in circulation too, with new values not related to what was written on them, such as the shilling and the florin. It seems like a strange and distant world but it's still all around us. (200 years since it was replaced by the pound and the guinea is still name checked in places.)
