How to level up a language?
I wanted to level up my Vak skill. My own (possible misreading?) of the wiki indicated that there were no lessons for languages, you simply provided the requisite number of memories of matching principles to upgrade a language. No problem. So I made a bunch of matching knock and rose memories, considered my Vak, and then ... nothing. It does not appear to work like that at all. Placing either a shapt or fet in soul slot doesn't make a difference either. So how do you upgrade your language skills? Do you have to purchase additional lessons from visitors or what?

Vak is Knock and Rose, so any lesson with Knock and/or Rose should work.

This is true of all skills, not just languages.

I may be missing something, but AFAIK currently the only way to advance a language would be to use one of the "wildcard" Lessons from forgetting another skill by Considering it during Numa. Perhaps the wiki meant to say that you could try considering it with at least one Lesson with matching aspects (you need at least one Lesson to advance a skill, while the other slots can take memories).

Right now it seems like there's not a lot of gameplay reasons to advance a language. In future updates/DLC, it could be cool to make advancing them more interesting by adding more books where the required language contributes to the relevant Mystery, and perhaps special non-reading situations that can accept a Language (e.g. certain Hours could appreciate a chant in specific Language at their shrines), in addition to non-Numa ways of advancing them past 1 such as books granting a language Lesson.

I upgrade the language to help with solving high level book mysteries.

This just completely blew my mind lol. It makes perfect sense given the card/typing requirements in this game, but I had it firmly in my mind that in order to improve a skill you needed the exact skill's lesson card. This changes a lot of things lol
