Memories with "Evolve via ..."

I don't recall if this was present before the patch, but a lot of memory cards (currently) have one of the evolution paths attached to them. For example Earth-Sign has Skolekosophy and Old Moment says "Evolve via Preservation ". The evolve slots on the tree of wisdom don't accept memories, so is this a bug? Or am I missing something?

It gives that station the temporary possibility to evolve with skills attuned to that wisdom. For example I can slot Ascendant Harmony (adds evolve via birdsong) + Leaves and Thorn (attuned to birdsong) into the Nocturnary (skolekosophy station). It will then accept 2 chors to upgrade them.

So that's the fix they found to allow evolving using skills that previously couldn't evolve the aspects of the soul they granted ?

OMG, I am so glad this was added because trying to line up stations, Wisdoms, skill aspects and soul aspects was getting so tedious.

I would have preferred that they did not make this change as the game is too easy as is - or at least counter this change by adding some harder late game challenge. They also added two principals to the telescope.

I am fundamentally not understanding how this works, because I have about 80% of the house unlocked and I can't figure out how to use ascendant harmony with Hill And Hollow attached to birdsong to upgrade my Chor. I can't find a workstation that fits all those pieces together

Not all combinations work. If you can't find a fitting workstation that takes Sky/Lantern (for the memory), Moon/Scale for Hill and Hollow, and Grail/Heart (for Chor) with 2 slots for elements of soul, then try a different memory with the "Evolve via Birdsong" aspect. By trying to make it work with a memory that has zero overlap in principles with the skill or the element of soul, you're making it unnecessarily difficult for you.

Why not use a Wind-in-Waiting (Grail/Moth/Scale/Sky), or a lowly Wind-Rumor (Heart/Sky)? Either would make an easy fit to evolve your cards in the Chrysalis (Nectar/Heart/Scale/Moth).
