Crafting candles

So I've been experimenting a bit with candlemaking, but no matter what I try I only seem to get the basic (and useless) wax candle. The crafting text seems bugged as well - it only says something along the lines of [or add a second ingredient for different results] with no other information or lore. Has anyone manage to make more advanced candles?

What workstation are you using, and which other components have you tried to add?

Once you find advanced candles in the game (there are a few in the house, they are usually easily spotted due to not being white), their names should make it fairly obvious which components were used to craft them. You then need to find a workstation where you can slot these components together with a candlemaking skill.

I've tried a few ingredients but I guess not the right ones. I'm just reassured to know that there's more to candle crafting, I'll keep experimenting!

One of them requires a flower you can pick during Numa.

Doesn't the help text tell you to use herbs?

Unfortunately I've used up all my wax in my experiments and it's currently winter so I can't try it out. But I'm certain that there were no hints, only a prompt saying I could use a second ingredient.

Try different flowers in the first slot and beeswax in the second to make better candles.

the text of the box will change if you're making a different candle.

For example, if you make a candle with moth orchid, the box will change text to "Make a moth-orchid scented candle"

There's no need to experiment here. Even Numina will tell you before you begin crafting that you have a unique recipe.

You need a skill that has candlemaking as part of it.
