Still Dont Understand How To Unlock Skills And Elements

I need someone to dumb it down for me a lot.

1) Read a book (using Consider). Perhaps you want to start with your own journal. You'll get some lessons.
2) Pick a lesson and Consider it. You'll get a skill.
3) Open the Tree of Wisdom (Round icon on the top of the screen).
4) Assign the skill to one of the available slots. Each skill fits into one of two branches and gives different soul fragments depending on where do you put it.

I dont have enough elements or skills to read the books.

Early on look for Tools - there are two right at the start. Also, the Weather can be used as a memory and those can help a lot. Early on, you might just read one book a day if that. Also, you should read what the book says, each book has two pieces of text. One is what you read when you select the book the other when you finish reading sometimes has useful information. If you think it's useful press F12 to take a screenshot.

Catalogue the books, unlock more rooms to find more books to catalogue. Convert any Lessons that don't have corresponding Skills into Skills. Put the Mystery 4 books in their own room, check which ones fit your soul and Skills, wait on appropriate weather. Pay attention to the Tools and Inks lying around.

Damn, I was blocked on the same thing! To dumb it down for real (and for futur reference and lost people):

1) I assume you've already Consider your journal a couple of time.
2) Open the Tree of Wisdom (Round icon on the top of the screen).
3) Place your journal in the only spot available in the center of the Tree
4) Click the "Assign" button that appear bellow (yes, it's a button!)
5) You've now unlock the Tree of Wisdom and can now place skills (and "Assign") in different branches (I won't spoil the rest)
