Malady for Mettle?
Having scouted around for little tid-bits of lore, I decided to try and get each of the maladies to know what they were, but there doesn't seem to be one for Mettle. Working during Numa doesn't give it, and after finding every book in the house there doesn't seem to be a curse, contamination, or otherwise that afflicts Mettle.

Has anyone run into Mettle's malady, and if so how do you get it? I'm not sure what aspect would invoke it from trying to overstudy, and trying to exhaustively guess it seems like a last resort. If it's part of a secret feel free to just gesture in the right direction, but as is I'm out of leads and wondering if it's intentional.

Huh, I have no idea. To the best of my knowledge there are four types of malady (infestations, curses, corruption and theoplasmic contamination) so it doesn't seem like there's a malady for every soul element, but that's just my notes, I could easily just not have encountered them. But I have played for over 100 hours so it'd be odd if I missed that many.

I figured that out, so I used a different method to do it one by one.

If you go to the Sweet Bones during Numa you have the option to work, and if you choose to do so it takes up the entire day and awards you with a Silver Spintria instead of a Sixpence. This gives a malady to whatever soul card you use for every card except Mettle, which makes me thing this is either unintentional or that Mettle doesn't have a malady. Could be wrong though, so I thought I'd post it here.

Ah, you already know much more than I do! But I got curious and looked into the game files. There's no malady for Mettle that I can find.

Chor: Duendratic
Ereb: Westengryred
Fet: Gisting
Health: Sick
Shapt: Acusis
Phost: Fascinated
Trist: Despairing
Wist: Shell-Crossed

Mettle is missing. Could be an oversight, could be to do with the nature of Mettle.

There is no Malady for Mettle. You can get depressed, manic, experience some flavours of depersonalisation and derealisation, you can get plain old physically sick, but no executive dysfunction for you. The Librarian always has the will to do at least one thing (unless you got no Mettle at all).

There's a malady for each part of the soul, except Mettle, each with a specific name - dependent on the soul, not the source of the malady. Separate from that, there's 4 classes of book contamination, each with 2 flavours (e.g. theoplasma can be actinic or chionic). So, total of 8 book contaminations, each affecting 2 different EotS, such that every one (except Mettle!), can be hit by 2 different things.

Ah, that settles it. Thank you for cracking it, I would have tried if I knew how to open a .json file.

These results agree with what I got doing it manually, so I'm willing to say it's intentional. If you want to try the technique with this in mind, go ahead and enjoy the spoils I suppose.

Oh, it's very easy! They're just text files. Notepad++ even formats it all for you.
