Advice for a Struggling Scale Specialist?
Hello, Fellow Librarians. I'm hitting a bit of a roadblock in trying to get the 25 scale needed for the later stages of the game. The big wall I hit was the fact that the only element of the soul that gives scale doesn't even add it the first time upgraded, and at max will only give 3. With numens being locked at 5, I'm struggling to find the remaining 17. Is there an above-5 ink, or do I just need to start heavily grinding a scale skill up to 12?

It's not based on using all the different aspects of a specific ink, and there are only two Determinations for each aspect, so the most your Journal can have is 2 Scale. One *will* be be from the 20 Scale Determination, the other will be from a Determination of a different aspect (If you make your 20 Scale Determination, it should tell you something like "if you're going for a Scale Victory, Determination XXX is relevant" as a hint, and then you need to figure out which aspect is needed for that).

The actual aspect you need for a second Scale Determination is Moon, which is not supported by Nillycant.

But yes, Nillycant is a good bet for at least one Determination and then the final History. You actually make it with Winter, IIRC you first need 10 Winter to brew Solomon's Preparation, and then 15 Winter to turn that into Nillycant.

Here's a fun thing. Determinations STACK. Though they need to be of different aspect. The mechanism is that you add 1 of each of the ink's aspects when you make a determination. Nillycant must be your go-to and you have three aspects to make determinations on it, thus you can get up to +3 scale from the journal.

So, betting you did the scale one first. Go do the edge and winter one while using nillycant. You'll get a bit closer to your purpose. I assume the only reason you want 25 scale is for the history. Keeper-level stuff is only 15.

Oh, and I did not even read that to the end. Yes, there is a stronger ink than houndsgall for you. Nillycant has edge, winter and scale at 7.

Scale is a struggle aspect for sure. Makes sense from a lore standpoint but doesn't help with gameplay of course.

To the best of my knowledge the highest level you can get from ink is 7, the highest you can get from numen is 5, and the highest you can get from soul is 3 (2? Not sure.) Determination gives you another 1 I think. So In theory you'd need another 9 in skill to make up for it, and I think primary skills are always one level above the number on the card, so you'd need a level 8 skill with scale as its primary aspect or a level 9 skill with scale as a secondary aspect. I do believe some determinations stack though, so definitely look into that. You can get the skill requirement as low as 7 or 6 that way I think

I haven't actually done it though, this is theoretical, so someone else please correct me.

Hello fellow archaeologist I presume. The biggest advice for scale specifically is to learn how to make the two higher level scale memories , to make up for the lack of scale in soul.

The keeper level memory is 6 scale, which will go a long way.

Much appreciated to you all! I already have a scale skill at 8, so if I get those determinations I should be near good to go!
