[SPOILER] What is the point of the Training Dummy?

There is a Training Dummy in the lower gardens, the "Practic Garden" specifically, and it can Evolve Via Illumination. Now Illumination is attuned to Phost which has Lantern and Sky Aspects. The problem is that the Training Dummy only accepts Edge, Scale, Heart, and Winter aspects. This basically means you can't place Phost in, yet Phost is tied to Illumination and it only evolves via Illumination soo.... what's the point of the station?

Is this a red-herring, or is there a way to determine what Soul you get from a certain Wisdom (like, could I get a Mettle from "Illumination" instead, meaning I could use it on the Dummy)?

Also, and this is probably silly, but can you upgrade a Soul card to ++? Like, if I placed a Phost+ and a Phost+ into an evolve station (assuming it's possible) would it be double-leveled? There are so many weird quirks to this game that just feel... odd and misleading, so I want everybody's insight into what they know regarding this stuff. Spoilers are totally alright with me!

I remember reading in a different thread that the Training Dummy is able to upgrade a whopping one possible placement of a skill (iirc Disciplines of the Hammer? Could be wrong). Why it's designed like that: who can say.

Yes, you can upgrade a Soul card to ++. You can also upgrade it to +++.

1. you'll find more workstations capable of evolving the same schools but with different aspects later.
2. Skills have 2 schools before you commit them, which means 2 choices for what soul you can get, if you don't like the choice for one school for a given skill, pick the other one.
3. Yes. It'll increase the aspects by 1 again.

Yes, there are skills that give you Mettle in Illumination line.

There are four levels total (starting, +, ++, and +++).

There's a misconception here. Illumination isn't tied to Phost, your skill is tied to Illumination and your choice of using that skill for Illumination gave you Phost. Illumination skills can also give Mettle in which the correct skill with Mettle would fit there. Just like Illumination isn't tied to Phost, Phost is also not tied to Illumination. You can also get it through Ithastry depending on your skill you slot in Ithastry.

I answered half above. The way you determine what Soul you're going to get is to look in the top right corner of your screen when the skill is slotted but not committed.

Yes, you can obtain ++ level cards. I've even heard theoretical discussions about +++ cards but I have yet to see anyone post pictures of those.

I'm not going to boot up BoH just to take a pic, but I have a +++ in Health right now, so I can confirm it's possible. It has 3 Heart / 3 Nectar / 2 Scale.

Good to know! I've just seen people talking about how it's theoretically possible and no one actually saying that they had done it. Considering it takes 8 souls it's quite an accomplishment.
