Urgent - I must feed this cat

I know that fish can be retrieved from beachcombing, but only by luck. I know that the cat enjoys a fish. I know very well that this cat is hungry and I don't have a fish. How to proceed, other than hoping very strongly that I get the right result from beachcombing? I enjoy the presence of this cat very much and don't want to lose it.

Also it seems that having stray animals in your house just automatically tames them after a time. You never actually have to feed them, presumably the trust is covering that.

The cat icon changes to show its displeasure at not being fed, so I assume it's more necessary than that. I would like it to be happy...

Also I have played some cRpgs in my time, and where is the beggar who pressures me for money at no reward to myself? Do I have to go out drinking more to find him deep in the pub? Does he sleep under a bush in the moores? Been looking for him when I take my morning stroll, I remember how it feels to be cold and alone. I'm fixing up this castle, he could come live with me if hes willing to watch me do some gardening.

The cat is more patient than he looks. :) There are other things he'll eat besides fish that can be found in Hush House...
