Super slow and laggy on Mac! - Is it the game or my laptop (Air 2020, Catalina 10.15.5)?

It runs Suppperrr slow. The main menu is smooth and all, but as soon as I get to the game it responds like a 80 yrs old with hearing issues. I had to get Super Patient with it (clicking slowly and wait 5 seconds for a respond etc.).

Fyi i closed all my apps and stuffs already, nothing but BoH was running. Even turned down the visual to acceptable only. It did get overwhelmed and shut down once, but other than that it runs, just hecking slowly.

Does this happen to anyone with Mac? Or is mine not strong enough to handle the game? Or is this issues with the game?

Just want to draw attention to this, and looking for answer as well so I can find a solution to actually play the game, bc at this rate it will take me triple the time to get anything done.

There's another thread about this, with at least four people (including me) complaining about poor performance on Macs. I've logged a bug report and am hoping they'll get around to optimising their Unity setup (or whatever) to fix this. It runs OK on a 2020 iMac, but my late 2015 MacBook runs like a dog.

It's worth checking if your laptop is below our minimum hardware specs -

MINIMUM:
OS: MacOS 12 or later
Processor: 2GHz or better
Memory: 1 GB RAM
Graphics: 4GB VRAM, 1600x1024 minimum resolution; integrated graphics cards will only work if post-2012
Storage: 5 GB available space
Sound Card: DirectX 11 compatible

- as we can't promise good performance on machines lower than this. But for issues on Macs above these specs, we'll get fixes out ASAP.

Thanks devs for responding! Really appreciate that yall are working on it and giving us quick updates. Still enjoying the game a lot even tho i have to treat it like it has arthritis. Fantastic writing, i've already made stupid amount of notes. Trying to get my friend get it on time for the perpetual edition. Hope the optimization goes well!
