Numa and Lessons disappearing

I had about 6 lessons of different skills stacked up and then Numa happened and they all disappeared. I thought lessons were permanent until you upgraded them into a higher skill. Can I get them back or are those books just wasted?

You can read the books again, I don't know if they will return but it does warn you that Numa will clear out even lessons and can approach seemingly anytime.

Oh I totally missed that. That sucks! Rereading the books only gives me memories but not lessons. :(

I got several "wanna buy this book" random events,so there are ways to get more. I'd assume they would have noticed if the game was unwinnable due to a core gameplay mechanic ....

True but it is super punishing if you didn't know that before and lost a ton of lessons. The warning should have been more obvious and it makes me not want to read all the books but rather focus. Although, knowing how to focus on a single skill is very difficult since the books don't exactly tell you which skill they have lessons for.

agreed. I'mnot far enough in the game to comment on that yet - I intentionally left some level 4 books unread when I saw that skills vanish after 9 seasons. But I havent had that happen yet, so it's only theory for now. They should be easy to upgrade with all the memories?

It also warns you that some guests will "abscond with their books, never to return them." so I imagine you can also lose out on books just by giving them to guests who have no intentions of bringing them back, hasn't happened to me yet but I am ever watchful.

Numa feels pretty anti-fun: just stop what you're doing and wait for the season to be over.

You can avoid it by slotting lessons, even if they aren't being worked on, just putting them in any slot available saves them.

Question: why did you stack up lessons instead of using them? Lessons are either for learning new skills or upgrading existing ones. I know it's counterintuitive, but you can use any lesson to upgrade a skill so long as it has a matching aspect.

I didn't know that you could use any lesson to upgrade a skill... I thought you had to have the same one as before :(
