Malady Issue

All of my wist are currently under malady and I have nothing to drink to fix it.

Anyone know if/how you can buy drinks?

You can craft some drinks at a desk. My go-to so far is Witching Tisane, which can be made with 5 grail using a few of the skills (The one I use is Leaves & Thorns)

[EDIT] If this isn't possible for you, your other option is to attune a new Hushery skill in the tree of wisdoms, that will get you an extra Wist which should help you until you find a more permanent cure.

Unfortunately I only have 2 skills currently, neither have lantern :(

Will have a look at that though, may just have to start over and not study the books until much, much later lol

I've managed to scrape some new souls together through the overpanel bit with the book, so should be able to explore more without having to restart at least!

Wait, I can use a desk for crafting things other than writing? Or do you mean the non-desk workstations like the kitchen stove, foundry, dispensary, and alchemist's table?

I'm in the exact same situation as the OP (I got a new Wist via the Tree of Wisdoms only to lose it to Shell-Crossed as well, because I managed to misread the bright yellow "Skill: 2" in my upgraded Quellings and Quenchings as "Lantern: 2"). I thought I could use the Iotic Essence in the Dispensary to craft myself a remedy via the alchemist's table, but it turns out that despite using Lantern to craft, Eigengrau does not have any Lantern in it at all! Also none of the beds let me use Lantern skills, it seems, so I'm stuck trying to figure out how to make a Lantern: 5 beverage. Any advice?

The malady mechanic seems overly-punishing, when you're new to the game, have little clue about what's going on and don't seem to be able to cure the problem. I may also consider restarting, which is a pain, as the game crawls on my Mac and the UI is confusing and clunky.

Agreed, very frustrating in the early game here.

Yah losing my wist early on and finding out I needed wist to get into the bed to cure it is a little frustrating but i'm hoping I can eventually work around it.
