Application hangs when applying any video or image.
Hi all, basically I've had this problem since the day of purchase. Once I try to apply any image or video background, the app hangs and ending the process is the only way out. My PC is more than capable and I'm running the latest beta.

Anyone else have this issue? Any advice would be welcome. Thanks

Hey AzDude,
I followed the instructions (even installed it to another drive on the second attempt) and the same thing happens. Even left it alone for 25 minutes and it never applied. When I click on the window, the prompt 'end task' or continue waiting comes up.

Is there anything else I can try? I don't have any other desktop customisation software running except the most recent version of Fences. I even uninstalled that but no joy.

Hello,
Make sure you are installing only in the Default Drive C: any other drive will not work .

Also click on DS settings then settings again ( click on link to see my screenshot ) and then you'll see 3 option setting to choose from try all 3 and one might work best for you ...click link for screenshot https://drive.google.com/file/d/1cNpbNKgT_3ebv8ofuiWWtNi4qDiLOGCj/view?usp=sharing

You might want to check for an update on your video drivers .

I also use this Codec pack Klite Mega free download with a default install that might help and can be easily uninstalled if you don't want it . LINk https://codecguide.com/download_k-lite_codec_pack_mega.htm

Hi again AzDude,

Really appreciate you trying to help, but so far nothing has worked. I should have said that I had it installed on my C: drive initially. After that didn't work, I tried my others. Each time using the purge batch file you pointed me to.

Also, the issue happens with static images as well. I tried the different video support modes you mentioned in the last post. I'm an avid gamer, so my machine is decent specs and all drivers are up to date.

I'll just hang on till there's a future update...maybe my issue will get sorted then

Try a Clean Boot https://forums.stardock.com/485954/deskscapes-support-faq#cleanboot
this will tell us if it's a third party issue causing your problem , if it works fine after a clean boot .

Would you try one more time the Purge Reboot and download a new latest version install and test ........ just incase the other version you were installing was corrupted ..

Sorry to hear you are having trouble.

As stated prior, DeskScapes (DS) needs to be installed in:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Stardock\DeskScapes

If it is not, please make it so.

Do the previews of the animated Deams work - do they have motion?

Also, if you apply a dream, have it freeze (I am guessing) and just reboot, is the DS one you applied rendering without issue or is the wallpaper you had prior to the attempt still applied?

Lastly, what is the date of your video driver for the PC (dxdiag.exe to find out). Also, does your PC have more than one video card - are you using SLI bridge them?
