Disciples III: Reincarnation

Disciples III: Reincarnation

Game is really hard for me :(
Hello. To start this off, this is my first time playing a Disciples game. And really, I don't play strategy games much but I wanted to try one out and this one caught my eye. I really like it so far, but I am really bad at it I think lol. Should I not be playing as the Elves my first try? Are they for more experienced players? I have always liked Elf type characters and the forest... and whatnot. I have the game on easy but I'm surprised how hard it is for me. I had to just give up on the group of wolves that is like 2 steps away from me at the start, I couldn't beat them. I actually got into a bit of a rythm, created another group and explored a bit and was doing okay. But there seems to be set groups of enemies blocking most paths that are just way higher level then my groups.

I just talked to the Elven Elder dude, or whatever he is(the old guy with the staff out in the woods) and went back to town to fight some Chimera looking thing, but it keeps on killing me lol. I don't even know what I am trying to say in this post lol. I guess, just some general tips from the more experienced players. Do I just stick with the default group I start with and level them up? I made another group with the hero being the Leige(I think), guy on a horse, mage, and healer. lol, can tell I'm new to the game, don't even know what to call things. Is that a bad group? Also, as far as the building goes, what do I need to focus on first? Are the Griffins worth it? Heck, should my noob ass not even be playing the Elves to begin with?

sorry for all the silly questions. It's just that I really want to like the game. I love it's look and atmosphere. I just feel like I'm in over my head and a lot of it was not explained very well in the game. I have tried to look around for guides or discussion boards with a lot of info that I could get, but really, there doesn't seem like much available. Any tips or help would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Personally, I am having more fun playing on "Easy." While I can handle it on "Normal" most of the enemies -- especially within a structure/dungeon/cave -- are way too difficult and cannot be affected by spells -- so I just bypass them -- which is a waste.

you can start with any race you want, but the story makes more sense if you play them in order, starting with the empire and finish with the undead
I could be wrong, but for me, it seemed that the difficulty level increases with each new faction,
(empire easy and so on)

now this was with the first D3 games, reincarnation may be different

I feel your pain, Scape. I also started with elves and like you found it to be difficult to the point of frustration. What helped me though is the possibility to avoid all battles prior to claiming your city capital. From that point you have way more options to deal with threats. For me it was construction of magical library and buying Boundless Spirit spell (+4 Initiative). You can also create nice runes and buy some stuff from merchants. Eventually there is no rush -- you can stock gold and mana and progress with preferable pace. From some point it just become easier and easier.

Ironically I'm myself now stuck at the beginning of act II. :p There is a very tough unavoidable batlle right ftom the start (Great wolf + 2 wolves). And there is no way to get any exp \ items \ spells prior to it. Personally I find my team incapable of dealing with them. Died 3 times already. Well gonna try more. ;p

Nailed it. Using terrain advantage spots is the key.

Launch Disciples 2 and you will get a slight concept of what really "too hard" means.

Playing on easy is hard enough for me. It's fun without being frustrating.

Ehh, you started with the elves? That's the third campaign. Play it in chronological order. It makes more sense for the storyline and the earlier campaign are easier.

Okay, I'll start with the Empire then. There is really nothing that would indicate to anyone that they are best done in a certain order. As far as parties go, should I just make whatever I feel like and be gravy?

Easy? In russian version difficulties are called Normal, Hard and Hardcore - no Easy.

Why are you talking about the Russion version when they are obviously not playing that?

Anyways, what a difference it makes playing as the Empire. After playing the Elves, I was at first a bit freaked out that you don't start off with a healer for the Empire, since I basically had to spam heals for the Elves. But it's been 100 times easier then the Elven campaign so far. I am not getting steam rolled like I was before. get a free 500 exp at the start and there are a lot of bonus stat landmarks all over the place.

That comment about Russian versions is spot-on. I have never seen an "Easy" mode in a game for Russian players, they want it HARD and "easy mode" is for wimps (like me ;-)
i agree! this game is extremely hard! and under normal difficulty computer have extremely greater chance to critcal hit! kill ur soldier in mere 1 hit! example bot griffin almost have 100% chance to cause critical hit! kill my hero with 1 hit! now i feel extremely frustrated! even level 1 is very hard to pass through! ur soldier must reach level 5 to upgrated into higher tier! so before level 5 everything is trash! this design turn game into trash! i cannot enjoy a smooth game play! really wasting a lot time on upgrading soldiers! :smartsam: i feel angry!

I just started ...and I'd say I don't like the Hit/miss rate. But yeah I'm a newb (starting with the empire) I just felt like playing this sort of game without Uplay on, that's why I'm here now.

This game is EXTREMELY HARD, first time playing it, lvl 1 on normal, getting attacked by lvl 11 parties (that does not seem normal to me). Uninstalling.

game is pretty easy....you have to fight lower level creatures and build upgrades for troops...when you upgrade and get a 5th troop added to your que, things get interesting....fun game...disciples 2 is even harder i think....great game
