You should check out the FF VIII section of Qhimm, OP. And McIndus' works too, naturally.

LUL, I'm having a VERY strong deja vu https://youtu.be/cV3yT9ZGHeY?t=26 right now, because that's the exactly same thing (literally word-for-word) that I've read roughly a couple weeks ago from somewhere else, lmao. The REAL multi-track drifting!!

Like I said. Days/weeks away. Technically you can install all of the big ones yourself, right now. With the exception of Project Angelwing (patreon only). Points for linking Initial D though. It's like I'm 'running in the 90's' again.

I thought that was on Qhimm (at least at some point), no? Maybe my memory is playing tricks on me, but I think I did see it being available/posted at Qhimm at one point, couple years ago.

The Project Angelwing mod your thinking about is for the Original PC release. That one is fully available.

The new one that is not publicly available is Project Angelwing: Ultima AI for the Remaster version

Wew, fine then. Guess that makes sense. I guess it's still WIP, then.
Probably would be available on Qhimm as well, once it gets finished.

The alpha release is planned for tomorrow for the patreons (and a preview on his stream) https://twitter.com/mcindus_mods/status/1389304372270534658

While called an alpha, it really isn't. With 2-4 weeks till release it is more like a final beta than anything.

It really looks incredible, I can't wait to play this. I do hope this mod will have the same installation process FF9 had, I am not familiar with setting up mods so what FF9 had helped a lot.

I just wonder if McIndus (or perhaps someone else at Qhimm) would be able to make and release a fix for the currently-nonexistent proper PSOne-style 360° 8-way analog stick smooth movement/run in this version. At the current time being this fugly overpriced POS has only garbage emulation that doesn't work properly, so you don't get actual correct smooth analog movement the original PSOne release has. It's mindbogglingly miserable and lame on SquE's part, because absolute majority of standalone PSOne emulators out there managed to do it right, yet this nu-demaster doesn't. This is an absolute...coding impotence. SquE's limpness.

Alpha1 came out last night, there have been some private streams showcasing the 4K high-res textures and they look really good.

Mcindus here - I would love to make this mod a reality. All it would take would be enough knowledge of the code. I think I know someone who could help...

The reason it's easier to do with IX is that it's built in Unity. FF8 has a whole bunch of recoded workarounds that are designed to work as new rendering interfaces for the game, rather than being built in a new engine like IX was. HOWEVER, OpenVIII is being built in UnrealEngine and already looks insanely good. It's probably several months to a year out from any kind of build, but it's very cool.

Really happy with the release. After the patrons and VIP Members QA the mod and find all of the bugs, I'll be doing a free full public release. I'll also release a full blown installer package (lunatic pandora: ultima) for donors/patrons/vip's that will include all current mods available (and some bonuses and a few updated mods) in a tidy installer.
