Why does this include cheats (again)?
Quoted from the store page:

"This product is a remaster of FINAL FANTASY VIII, featuring multiple enhancements including additional options to customise your gameplay experience and difficulty, such as:

Battle assist options (HP, ATB gauge, and Limit Break boosts)
Game speed boost (x3)
No random encounters
Obtain all items and abilities
Max G.F. levels, currency (gil), and spells
Obtain all Limit Breaks and cards"

Seriously? lol. The whole point of an RPG is spending time collecting items and building your characters. Well, and having a book-like story to follow. All fans of the Final Fantasy series know this. FF8 isn't a particularly difficult game either, and much of the content is optional. I can kinda sorta understand the game speed boost for those that hate spending time drawing magic for the junction system or something...

But why would you intentionally include cheats that ruin the RPG experience for the player, then try to pass it off as an enhancement? At least require beating the game to unlock them first, or hide them behind a Konami code or something lol.

INB4: "Don't use them if you don't like them." I obviously won't be using them. I'm just curious why they would intentionally include something like this. From a sales point of view, nor a QoS point of view, it just doesn't make sense.

This! And they call it enhancements, lol.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

Oh, god forbid people play games at their own difficulty so they can enjoy it how they want. If you don't want to use the cheats, then don't use 'em.

I've never played a Final Fantasy re-release with these cheats before, so it'll be interesting to see. I'll probably just use the 3x speed boost for some parts. Maybe random encounters off if I'm feeling annoyed. I mean, I don't see why anyone would want to unlock all items and get max everything... But some people are just in it for the story.

The enhancements are there because, guess what? These games are kinda old, and they've aged a bit. No one can deny that. There's some parts people would rather be easier. I'll once again say it, I've never used these cheats before, so I don't know how intrusive they'd be to gameplay. But to my understanding, it's non-intrusive.

(Now that I think about I have played FF9, on the Switch. I think I used the 3x speed boost to skip the battle opening sequences. I wouldn't even consider 3x speed cheating unless you're using it to gloss over a ton of grinding)

Oh, god forbid you have to actually play a game how it's designed. Did you even read the INB4?

Game age doesn't matter. That's the point of a remaster, to make an old game more aesthetically appealing with newer technology. Cheats are not enhancements lol. Cheats are cheats. If you're going to defend cheating, at least just say some people want to cheat without hunting down a cheat program. Or that maybe people that have already played the game, want to screw around with cheating. But don't make excuses fam.
its a singleplayer program with optional cheats, wheres the issue? it honestly sounds like you wanted something to complain about. this literally doesn't affect you at all.

Because that's the point. A singleplayer RPG game including a way to cheat makes no sense, let alone advertising it as an enhancement.

Btw, it doesn't affect you either, just like this thread. So why'd you feel the need to twist my intentions?

Oh right, because you wanted something to troll about. Or you also like to cheat and would rather take jabs at me than discuss the topic. :p

No Encounters on this game actually could be interesting.

This is one of the most grindy FF's ever made the draw system encourages you to fight enemies over and over drawing their magic.
Mechanos Aug 21, 2019 @ 10:29pm
@Redblaze27 - You have a point. If you turned it on at game start and never turned it off, you'd be forced to get some magics from alternate sources, and you'd run into main content at much lower levels. Running around might eventually get boring though, and some areas where the tougher than normal encounters are the primary hurdle will probably feel fairly broken. Some content may be impossible to get too. But I could see it being pretty interesting for someone that's already beat the game.

@Birck - While you're encouraged, it's completely optional in multiple ways. First, you can beat the game without min-maxing your junctions. Second, you can get magic through item/card refining and can even give yourself a massive early game advantage through this method and not bother with magic drawing for the rest of the game.

And you don't have to fight them over and over you just need to find one enemy with skills that you need and then drain it until you are full.

I don't see in Store description how this remastered version is different from the base game which is already on Steam for ages except for cheat list. Which makes it useless.

This. Also if you keep at least one character's magic power junctioned high, you can nearly guarantee 9 magic per draw further speeding things up.

True. In the top right it does mention graphical enhancements, and the screenshot does appear to show changed player models. I'm hoping it includes other stuff too though, like the PS1 music track and GUI.

Just level Diablos ability and you don't need it

FF10 remastered have "cheat features", pretty great when you had 700 hours in FF10 and can just get as strong as you were on PS2 in 100 hours.

It's a singleplayer game so why do you even care ?

"INB4: "Don't use them if you don't like them." Yeah just don't.
sick duck Aug 22, 2019 @ 12:17am
Because the gameplay is terrible and it wouldn't be made worse if it were less time consuming. It is for people like me who have played so many similar games since I was little and because free time decreases with age.
