Final Fantasy VIII Remastered LAUNCHER ERROR!

Can some one help me with this ERROR!? after pre ordering, downloading and installing FFVIII remaster, I can't seem to make it work! It gives this errors

You should see a list of blocked apps and one of them should be the FF8 Remaster launcher. Select it to give you the option to allow the app through. Try launching game again afterwards.

I get as far as manage ransomware protection and when I go in, there is no "allow an app through controlled folder access" option. So no option to see a blocked list. To be honest though, why would you need to go through this in the first place. This game can't really be seriously seen a threat?

There are several ways you can access the "device manager":

-Search in the windows bar for "devmgmt.msc"
-Do "Winkey + R" (to open the "run" menu) and type "devmgmt.msc"
-On the control panel switch the view to "small icons", afterwards the device manager should appear.

Were any of yall able to get it fixed? If not there is a fix of sorts, all you need to do is copy those missing files over from a good install. If you can get a good install on a different computer look in this location C:\Users\(computer name)\Documents\My Games\FINAL FANTASY VIII Remastered\Steam\(steam ID), there should be four files, all you have to do is copy those files to an external souce of your choice, then copy over into the folder they should be in on the compter that isnt launching the game.

I copied those files from my windows 8 laptop to my windows 10 laptop and it worked perfectly.

I'm on windows 11 and this problem is happening to me I've been trying to fix it but don't know how I really want to stream it and it doesn't matter what device I install it to still pops up with this error

Yes- sorry all for late reply. I was making a post and then Steam asked for restart and I clicked "OK", then I figured what I've done.
In short:

• The launcher error in OP post says, that it's having a problem with reading/parsing the config file. The path presented by Detox (above) is correct. Either remove the `config` file or re-create the file with empty content.
  
• About "Update drivers" - so for majority of us "Updating video card drivers" is something we either do each time because we are used to follow advices from the Internet/game's Troubleshoot, but in fact Final Fantasy VIII Remastered SUFFERED FROM NON-UPDATED DRIVERS. There was a situation only with AMD cards, where some driver update broke the OpenGL something with shaders I believe. So users updating their video cards received error whenever FFVIII:R was run. They released next update fairly quickly (few days?) which fixed the problem with OpenGL. In their changelist they actually wrote that "fixed Final Fantasy VIII: Remastered error". So yeah, AMD actually mentioned the game and was aware of the problem. You are pretty safe now updating the AMD drivers to newest- it will contain the fix to OpenGL (game's using that as rendering backend).
  Above issue isn't related to Nvidia cards.
  
• Now the OneDrive- when enabled it uploads the Documents folder to Internet and whenever file is requested it downloads it from the Interrnet. It actually broke the config file and save data. Ultimately the fix was to entirely disable OneDrive, however I'm using OneDrive always, and you can just go to

  \Documents\

  and right-clicling on the folder

  My Games

  will show context options for the folder. You should be able to find option (I'm translating from my native language) "Always store on this device". This will both enable OneDrive for everything, but always store the FFVIII folder untouched by OneDrive

It's really both amusing and pathetic, that they couldn't write the launcher properly. The launcher says that it's made with "© 1999, 2021 SQUARE ENIX CO., LTD. All Rights Reserved.", however that doesn't point us to anything as the main developer or distributor is always putting the copyright from their side. Outsourced developer like Access Games and Dotemu are probably credited only in the game's credits. I'm not sure who made the actual launcher- either Dotemu or SE itself. Anyway: why didn't they perform enough tests on the launcher?

As the launcher is written in C# we can straightforwad deocmpile the code.

The error says, that some sequence have no elements. The only collection is the

Resolution resolution = Display.GetSortedResolutionList(0).Last<Resolution>();

So... Let's dig in how Display.GetSortedResolution is made. But... it doesn't really make any sense. The Display class is not using the config... It enumerates the real hardware resolution via EnumDisplayDevices and EnumDisplaySettings. So idk. Are you using multiple displays?
I wonder if I can fix the original launcher. I'm only worried about redistributing the fixed launcher as that can violate Intellectual Property. Some patcher will suffice I guess.

I've tried every single one of these suggestions, and while I got past the initial error, allowing the game to at least load up to the main menu, once I click "new game" it stops and throws up a window saying "an unknown exception has occurred". I have an HP Pavilion 15 running Windows 11, an AMD Ryzen 5 3500U, with AMD Radeon Vega Graphics, and 16GB RAM
