FINAL FANTASY VIII - REMASTERED

FINAL FANTASY VIII - REMASTERED

Statistiche:
ERROR: Can't open configuration file
There seem to be many Bugs that causes the Game not to start.
Mine does not start too and gives me the following Error:
Error: 3889861889 : 337
Can't open configuration file : 'config.txt'
Someone else got that Error - or maybe someone who fixed it?

For whatever reason, the folder that had the config file in it didn't match up to my Steam ID. When I changed it to the correct number, it was able to open.

Go to https://steamidfinder.com/lookup/ and search for your ID, it's the steamID64 that the folder used.

Weird, is...
The game is reading the config.txt, because when I change tha language settings, close the patcher and re-open it, the settings change as well, ex.:

width 1920 height 1080 language EN mastervol 100 bgmvol 100 screenmode 0 display 0 cameraspeed 4 brightness 50 antialiaslevel 1 firstboot 1

If I change the language value to: JP, when I open the patcher in setting it changes to Nihongo (japanese), so, it is reading the file, why it can't access to run the game is a mistery... ¬¬
I heard changing the launcher exe name to something else and changing the FFVIII executable to the same as the launcher used to be has been fixing stuff for people. DUno
Game recreate the FFVIII_LAUNCHER.exe when you try it, I'll need to change the DLL as well, but then the game can't find the file... XD

GREAT! that fixed it, thanks :D I go check for crashes now lul
I think the reason for this issue is if you're sharing the game. I purchased this game, and on another laptop that had my steam account as secondary and the primary account tried to play it, the config folder matched my account rather than the account launching the game, leading to this error.

any chance you can explain how you fixed this for the rest of us leachers :)
C:\Users\...\Documents\My Games\FINAL FANTASY VIII Remastered\Steam\(76561197*******) - replace this number with your steamID64.
OK i fixed it,

Step 1. open C:\Users\(yourname)\Documents\My Games
Step 2. find another steam game exp (C:\Users\(yourname)\Documents\My Games\(the game you own\Steam) in this file a file with alot of numbers
Step 3. copy the numbers (rename, and copy it)
Step 4. return back to C:\Users\(yourname)\Documents\My Games and find FF8
Step 5. open to C:\Users\(yourname)\Documents\My Games\FINAL FANTASY VIII Remastered\Steam and rename the folder to the number in Step 3

Step 6. open game and should hopefully run

They are meaning the number folder in the documents/mygames/finalfantasyVIII/ which changing that number to yours after looking it up on the website fixed the issue completely.
