FINAL FANTASY VIII - REMASTERED

FINAL FANTASY VIII - REMASTERED

View Stats:
FFVIII Editions
PS1 (Original Edition) released in 1999 was almost the same as the
PC (Port Version) released in 2000, then the
STEAM (Digital Download Edition) had small enhancements in 2013, and now the
STEAM (Remastered Edition) has some more enhancements in 2019.

But we are in like a 2/3 of the remaster.
We really need world map and the backgrounds to be remastered, especially when there are characters been part of them.
I am not sure why they do not fix those backgrounds, or at least recreate the characters that are in the background to have a better definition.
They are just been lazy.

They only improved some characters, GF and some bosses. So we are in like a 0,05/3 remaster

hehehe, yeah.

I am counting it this way:

PS1 1999, PC 2000
STEAM 2013 [Remaster 1/3]
STEAM 2019 [Remaster 2/3]

you would think people would be glad they even considered ff8 alive at all, considering they have spent 20 years ignoring its existence

Just let's play the original one.

I just played 3 hours of the remaster on PS4 and can confirm some things.(at least on ps4)
1. The Ui in battle is 15 fps and drops inputs
2. The world map is the same as 2000 pc port with no white lines besides the roads and terrible textures and mapping
3. NO ANALOG! 8 directions only even on ps4, also NO rumble.
4. No configurable inputs, the PS1 version lets you change some buttons around in the options menu under control mapping.
5. No analog sensitivity menu slider.
6. GF Boost ability is severely hampered by 15fps lag, maximum 120 at best for quezecotl where as I can get 170ish on ps1, sometimes 175 others 160. Mashing the button can lead to 3-4 button presses per number going up, you have to press it slow and sometimes jump up by two.
7. Triangle and Circle functions have been SWAPPED! circle button now backs out and Triangle swaps characters which as a 20 year veteran of ff8 is making me lose my freaking mind.
8. "baked" in cid is still present so they didnt bother to change that so all you see is a super blurry cid during the dollet mission briefing.
9. 60 save slots total, 30 for each "card"
10. On ps4 some video stuttering for fmv's occur, sound effects can also stutter now and then.
11. Zell's limit break input speed is mostly intact, I can get 3-4 inputs per second of timer.
12. Squalls limit break is severly busted, the input lag was bad enough before but now its 50/50 at best if the R1 works, useless unless you mean to cast lionheart.
13. the circle (now triangle) limit break technique is harder due to Ui lagging so its harder to spot and control limit breaks as effectively when in a hurry.
14. Selphies limit break is harder to use since it takes more time to cycle through due to slow Ui update (see a pattern?)
