you can but.... the time it takes is about the same as the time it takes to finish the whole first disc...
DragonniteZero Sep 3, 2019 @ 8:50pm
how long does it take?

go to the coast, set shiva to learn Str-J, kill the fishes for fins, once she learns that put her to learn Ice magic transformation, learn that with the fishes, turn fish fins into Water, equip that to Str and... it's a nice boost but if you want to break the game...

Go to the nearby city, talk(challenge to a card duel) to the queen of cards(lady infront of the train station) check she has the rule:all if she does cool, quit and go back to the garden, duel people until the all rule gets spread, keep winning cards and ♥♥♥♥(easier if you just go for ifrit as he gives you his card) learn more Transform X into Y Magic with your Gfs and also the Card to Item from Quetzalcoatl and..

you pretty much can break the game even before leaving for the Seed Exam or even getting Ifrit if you wanna struggle with card duels, now if you want to get the Lionheart on disc one...

look for a... therapist, since you need i believe 20 elviole cards, the brothers card, some screws and i don't quite remember the last item but it's quite easy compared to the 20 cards, you can essentially Hit for 9999 on disc 1 while also getting Squalls ultimate weapon if you grind hard enough, it's fun.

enjoy the game :D

a while. best option is to get the 2 guardians as soon as you start from the computer then go out into the world map, edge of the forests and grind. grind. grind.
since the game uses level scaling they'll get stronger over time but so will Ifrit.

Overpowered is a very big understatment. As Raylos said, if you get the Lionheart, you are pretty much unstoppable.

I actually wrote up a guide for this here.

The 20 Elnoyle cards aren't that hard if you like Triple Triad. You can get them from the old guy at the reception desk (one screen south of the lobby with the save point). Or you can get them from the "guy in the back" in the cafeteria (the same guy you can win the Quistis card from). He's more difficult so I'd suggest playing the old guy at the reception desk.

You can either card card mod the Minotaur card into Adamantine, or you can go to the beach across from Dollet (after you leave Timber) and fight an Adamantoise that's level 30+, and they have a good chance of dropping Adamantine. That does mean your average party level has to be at least around level 30+ though.

The easiest thing to get are the dragon fangs which you can get from a level 20-30 T-Rexaur (forest outside of Balamb or the Balamb Garden training center - 20% drop rate), or a level 1-9 Grendel (the forest with the second dream sequence after Timber - 70% drop rate), or a level 20-30 Grendel (same forest as the level 1-9 Grendel - only a 20% drop rate, which is still pretty decent).

Getting strong Early is just about playing cards a lot and using the refining abilities of the early GFs. Here are some of the best Junctioning spells you can obtain in Disc 1 for the early stat junctions

1 Abyss Worm > 1 Windmill > 20 Tornado
10 Chimera > 1 Regen Ring > 20 Full Life
1 Imp/Visage > 1 Wizard Stone > 5 Curaga
1 Mesmerize > 1 Mesmerize Blade > 20 Regen
10 Ruby Dragon > 1 Inferno Fang > 20 Flare
1 Tri-Face > 1 Curse Spike > 10 Pain
1 Gayla > 1 Mystery Fluiid > 10 Meltdown
1 T-Rexaur > 1 Dino Bone > 20 Quake

You can also get Holy from the Krysta card but obtaining the cards is annoying.

In a low level run you can get practically all the final weapons (barring Irvine's Exeter) in disc 1 by playing cards and doing 3 things

Stay low level to get 4x Dragon Fangs from Grendels (Forest by Galbadia Garden)
Exploit Seifer to get 4x Dragon Skins from Anacodaurs (Dollet Mission)
Kill X-ATM092 and make sure the drop is a Force Armlet (Dollet Mission)

If you want to get overpowered on the beginning ot the game, why not just use Cheats then? Derp. Just play the game and enjoy its progression.

Using Mega_Tyrant's list (and modding any spares along the way), about 13 hours of playing Cards in Balamb (quicker if you use later/better areas) will net you a Twin Lance, and MOST of the items need to upgrade most weapons after Timber.

The items most notably missing from Mega_Tyrant's post seem to be Energy Crystal (refined from Elnoyle cards, can't remember how many, been a long time), which is played (rarely) by Trepe Groupies, Ma Dincht, and someone on the docks of Balamb (can't remember which). And Adamantite, which is a mid-level drop from Adamantoises from the beach behind Dollet train station.

Although I have mostly focused on mentioning weapon/parts, the real power in this game comes from Junctions, the spells for which were covered quite well by Mega_Tyrant. The problem with this is A) The required AP, and B) A lot of the good spells come from later GFs (Even Siren very much has a place in spell refining).

Personally, I use Seifer, and one "dummy" character to farm AP, I usually choose to sacrifice Quistis for this cause, as her "best" abilities don't really require high stats to function well. This lets you farm the needed AP to get started on the beach with Quistis + Dead Squall before Ifrit, then max your first 3 GFs in Dollet.

Two things come to mind. 1) Because it is wholly legitimate, no cheating, you EARN everything yourself, equating it to cheating is mindboggling, 2) "Perfect Game" Challenges are a thing. Whether or not either of these apply to YOU is your business.

I remember the good old days when I played Doom and Blood. Literally cheated to make the games harder. (I ran either single barrel shotgun only, or dynamite only, and cheated to always have ammo).
There’s really no need to cheese the game the old way. Like VII (on ps4 not pc) The game has built-in cheats into the thumb sticks. You can just click in the right thumb stick to give your whole party limit breaks at anytime.

Maybe you wanna break the game in a legitimate way? I can see people doing that but Squares built-in chees-ing buttons and menu options are always right there in this version.
