good news, You can play the old version for Warsaw
thank to someone here in discussion, we can play the old version of this game

just open up setting for this game then go for the beta section

Afterward, just click the beta participation and choose bootcamp public test branch

Don't worry, it may sound different but it literally the old version final update just before this new version come

so to those who enjoy this game before the update come, you can now play it to your heart content

P.S i gonna post this on the review section next to spread the words, so good luck for me

That's not how game-changing updates should be published.

Most developers know that and just add a separate entry in the user libraries (like the devs of Mafia 2 or Metro 2033 did after a remaster was published), but some devs prefer overwriting the original for some strange reason.

indeed, people are rightfully angry with the devs for they action and i genuinely hope the devs will fix that

but we all gotta do with what we have for now and that option is a good solution for people to play the old version of the game

again, hope this will not be a common sight in gaming world

There is no publisher for a previous version, as far as I can tell, so it probably would be removed in the end. To submit another item to the store requires addition investment, and the developer can only recover the money loss by selling the older version, which... probably would be just removed. So I guess there was no way to treat WARSAW the way like publishers for Mafia 2 or Metro 2033 did.

It wouldn't. It was self-published. They just sold the rights to IPN.

IPN as the Institute of National Remembrance in Poland? If the Institute of National Remembrance is a state organisation I wonder if it can commit a commercial activity.

It cannot, that's why the game went F2P.

So the previous store entry should have become F2P too, right? Why would they have to keep two F2P version then? I'm not trying to defend them (I'm too don't like what they did), but my guess is Pixelated Milk devs saw no point in implementation of 2 different F2P store entries for the same game.

The thing is it's not the same game. The new 'educational' version is based of off the old Warsaw game's assets and some mechanics, but it's essentially totally different experience. It would make perfect sense to just create a new f2p store entry for IPN's version and just leave the original alone.

I think developers wouldn't earn any profit for the distribution of old version of WARSAW if they have no rights to do so anymore. So they decide to update the version of the game they already listed on the store. Though my guess might be just wrong and developers simply had no time or desire to do this in other way.

I mean, they are still selling the console version. But I think you guessed right. It's just baffling how our tax money is being spent, instead of something truly creative, or at least univasive, they do some shady moves of acquiring full games and reworking them to something else.

Side note, Warsaw has a boxed release. It has a steam code instead of the disc, so I imagine people buying it might feel scammed when their code unlocks some free game.

As far as I know, you cannot just revoke the leftovers of the physical retail copies if there is no good reason for that: like simple defect or bad quality overall. Apart from that console or physical versions might have a different publisher. But I agree, the situation is really nasty when someone pay for a retail copy and then discover that they tossed their coins for a free-to-play game.

They could just unlist it on the store. That way people would retain the original in their libraries.

True, they could. But isn't it better to allow everyone to download a version with more content?
Hi, newcomer here :). Hate to resurrect an old thread, but how do you access the old version? All the information I found said to look in the beta branch, but it doesn't seem to be there? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

there was an update that bring back the old version and combine it with the new version into a launcher thus allowing people to choice between the two version

unfortunely,if you got the games after the game went f2p

you cannot access the old version as you only got the new version for some damnable reason
