Ballistaman spam also helps greatly as it counters Utara's horde of Witches. Once you stabilize your line you can start adding more Brawler and Sledger for the attacking army.
You can also have some of your army preferably your Zen masters rush to the Druids base just by running past enemy units along the way.
Might also help if you watch a YouTube video of someone doing it.

Problem is, OP said it didn't work for him. Druid's base gets overrun before he can "get decent amount of units".
If you think you can't aid the Druids in a timely manner, as I've said before rush your Zen masters to their base. Best to do it right in the beginning while your setting up your base as you won't run into too much enemies along the way. Preferably do it with Wildeye as he is the fastest out of the 3 of them, and when the cutscene triggers, Grayback and Longtooth teleports to Wildeye location. The 3 of them can defend the Druids while you build up your Mauler army.
