Thanks for stating the version of your game.
We've acknowledged an unfair increase in difficulty after some of the 1.57.8 changes, the situation should be better on open beta right now (1.57.9) and will be fixed in the next update (we're reducing AI cheats while trying to improve its combat behavior).
For now, besides switching to open beta, I can suggest looking into deeper in-game controls unless you're already familiar with them, that could be of great help in battle: https://steamcommunity.com/app/1025600/discussions/0/3115906960363399204/#c3093389895548447642.
Cheers!
I think there's a little bit more breathing room on the very beginning, but i still was not able to break the northern wolf base. I have tried a lot of different unit combos and I'm micromanaging everything to the best of my ability.
The problem I think is the reinforcement waves. They come in at around minute 4-5, and it seems to be x6 units per base. When they arrive, the northern base is still not destroyed, and they get a chance to rebuild. They'll usually send x6 wolf troops, and the dragon bases also seem to send 2 groups of 6 units. Fighting off these forces gives enough time to the northern base so that they build a force of their own.
A second wave of reinforcements per each base seems to come very quickly after the first initial wave hits. I would say 1 to 2 minutes after, but I've had this second wave reach me before I even completely clear up the first initial group of reinforcements. This is what finally destroys me.
Another way to approach the map is going south. I did manage to establish a base on the southern rice field this time. I managed a stalemate which is definitely progress, but I did lose eventually, as the attacks kept getting stronger and I was unable to destroy any other bases, or replenish losses in order to keep up with attacks.
