Again, this is just from a basic player, I don't really know either what the advantages/disadvantages stand for since it's not explained anywhere in the interface.
I use minor and major disadvantages if I want to play a game like 2 against 6 (IA). It really helps.
I still get wrecked half of the time though. xD
They are doing an awesome job at updating this old game and I guess it takes them a lot of time.
If they somehow see this topic, I'd love to know what lies in the code when you are selecting advantage or disavantage.
Again, from what I know:
- A/D won't give you resources advantages since you select the rates in the lobby
- I feel that training rates are increased or decreased
- Also, A units will be stronger, D units will be weaker by like... 10 to 20%?
Other than that, I don't know. Maybe there is an increase in BR rates/damage but I can't tell.
Best is to try it for yourself I guess in a 1 vs 1 AI at 100% and see the changes. I didn't because I like large scale lol
But they also use battle gear Way more efficent, and counter yours by, well completely ignoring what they do, Like the smoke bombs, they wont just stand around and wait to get killed anymore.
Interesting that the IA reacts more or less depending on the settings!
I wish the developers could tell us exactly what's going on. :-)
Mostly we're busy with the game development and respond to bugs / technical questions.
Allow me to clear everything up for everybody involved in this thread:
Advantages/Disadvantages or simply - Handicap, only affect Armor of the units and buildings, nothing else. That, of course, directly influences how much damage the 'handicapped' units/buildings take.
It has always been this way and, for now, remains unchanged in Zen Edition.
This is not related to Handicap, but to AI Profile settings. You can read more about what AI settings influence here.
In Zen Edition, some of the AI behavior was tweaked in the code, which made them utilize BGs more efficiently, use Necromancer etc. All these changes you'll be able to read about in our changelogs posted in the 'News' section of the game's hub.
The 'blindness' effect recovery is a change we introduced in the update 1.57:
For now that remains the only newly introduced code-change tied to AI settings.
I hope that helps!
We understand you are very busy with the development so it's even nicer to get an answer. Thanks for taking the time, I think it will help many players.
Good luck! (and also good to know about the Discord server, I still live in the 2000s but I'll get better, I swear!)
