Making a better game - let's collect ideas! The Reboot
Hello there, fellow Battle Realms warriors.

Since I started this topic back on the Steam Greenlight page of BR and it proved to be very useful, I think reopening it here on the official community section will be even more constructive.
The aim of this thread is to collect ideas on how to improve Battle Realms as a whole. That explicitely means that we are NOT reporting/discussing bugs or technical issues here, but rather should focus on additional content / gameplay mechanics itself.

To kick off, I will start with some of my own suggestions:

- Improved AI. Meaning that, for instance, any Serpent AI would finally be able to build the Necromancer's Throne in order to use one of its mightiest units.

- More camera freedom: I'd appreciate zooming more out of the landscape to gain more overview. And also why not have the ability to rotate the angle around 360 degrees?

- A new skirmish game mode: I don't have a fancy name for it yet but what I'd basically like to see is fighting with limited resources as in most other strategy games. Give a specified, fixed integer on rice fields which define how much resources can be harvested there (and which would also of course limit rice regrowth). This would furthermore motivate to create maps which have more rice fields distributed over the battlefield, forcing us players to use new tactics etc.
I know we have the Starvation mode or can set the rice regrowth rate to 0, but both are not the same as this mode would be. Starvation gives you just a fixed amount of resources in the beginning and you build an One-shot army (but nothing really over time) and rice regrowth on the other hand provides too limited resources. Of course, any suggestions at this point are welcomed!

Thats it from my side. I hope we can provide a fruitful discussion for Ed & his team in order to make Battle Realms an even greater game than it already is!

Remade high-polygon models and higher-resolution textures would be sick. The community for Half-Life 2 for instance always goes out of their way to make crazy new models, animations and textures.

Another would be more unit types and training buildings. Add to the meta.

Maybe even go so far as to add a fourth clan type if it can come as DLC. Do like a "European" or "Roman" type of clan where it is a mix of both Serpent's ranged weaponry with Lotus weirdness. Have it be with heavy armored knights with slow walk speed or something with halberd type weaponry or great swords that can down a horse right away. Low-HP Spartans with crazy DPS and able to form a shield formation with 2+ units. Have their watchtowers be a castle spire and their buildings with rock/boulder construction. Maybe even a movable watchtower/siege tower would be crazy. Let them have heavy units like Wolf Clan which would be something like heavy cannons or trebuchet. Their healers could be like a religious figure carrying a battalion flag or religious icon.

An Egyptian/Aztec clan with weird space/alien/ancient technology. Can have a Peasant move around a building instantaneously instead of demolish and rebuild. Has teleportation/portal gate buildings to move units across the map quickly. Doesn't need water resource, only to water rice. Has weird flying units that can traverse over water and mountains. Can construct "barricade" type of (pyramids or Pumapunku smooth indestructible wall) buildings to better route enemies for defense, Clash of Clans style.

Can we have autosaves atleast on the campaigns even at starts of every mission? like... hell i was on the zone so i did not save... game's unstable af i pressed restart mission it crashed and now i need to finish like 3 mission again...

Yeah a mission selector would be pretty cool

Hi there, some suggestions:

- unlock a mission selector after finished campaign(s)
- option to play new created single player levels
- editor/maker for unit, hero, clan and campaign

I know this has been asked in the past but I think the game really needs a Steam Workshop. The map editor is really easy to use and I think more easily accessible community content could help the game to grow. I've made two or three maps in the past that I play regularly and that I'd like to share with other people.
