PC vs Mobile - The little things
I'd like to start off by saying - Congrats on the steam release, Vainglory is a great game.

As a new VG player (mobile and PC), I've noticed that it's a lot easier to 'Move - Attack' (stutter step I think it's called here) on mobile than it is on PC. I believe this is because the mobile version has separate controls for moving and attacking.

If there is to be a level playing field for platforms on a competitive field, both platforms need similar capabilities.

I've completely stopped playing ranged heroes on my PC because it is far more satisfying to do so on my phone.

Things I think would balance the platforms:

  • An option for WASD - highlighted in another discussion I made.
  • An option to show the max range of basic attacks - Similar to mobile .
  • An option for mouse sensitivity.
  • An option to prioritise Heroes or Minions while auto attacking.
    Almost forgot:
  • An option for auto aiming abilities (similar to the mobile ability press.

I'll be looking forward to what you have in store. Thank you.

WASD could be good, but weird, since you will have to press WD to go straight on the map.

basic attack range indicators are not necesary imo (though when you're playing on mobile with the joysticks if you drag the basic attack button it will show you the range though). It could be only useful if the game can be played only with keyboard without a mouse then.

mouse sensibility seems a good idea.

same functionality as on joysticks ported to KB+Mouse users then, could be the "S" for minions or jungle creeps then.

auto aiming only makes sense when you can play with only a keyboard without a mouse (like it does on joystick controls).

Good points.

- The option for WASD was primarily for:
1. Combating the advantage mobile players have via stutter stepping (how relatively easy it is).
2. Implementing an option for Gamepad support ( steam’s big picture mode). With WASD movement, everything else can be mapped to a gamepad (if they have associated keyboard keys)

- The range isn’t essential but it would be welcome add-on (for new players to get familiar with the range).

- Other than WASD, I was thinking of a way to make it easy to implement the stutter step. A toggle (constant auto attack key) which priorities enemy heroes might do the trick.

- I honestly didn’t consider the cursor on pc. Great point about the auto aiming abilities. The auto aim on mobile (joysticks) makes it so much easier to land skillshots.

Perhaps “pressing the shift button on the keyboard + mapped ability button” instant casts the ability to the enemy heroes location without considering the cursor?

Really just throwing ideas out because right now, there’s a clear advantage if you play on a phone (with joysticks).

Yup. If you hold and drag the attack button. It brings up a manual aim indicator that shows max range.

that only works with joystick. Playing with joystick is for noobs and it's really bad

yeah lets put an aimassist into a moba so that skillshots become autoaim

not playing VG on mobile but playing AOV, but I agree we need WASD and autoaim option like mobile does, playing range type hero with joystick+autoaim is so much easier, easy to stutter and harrast

how is it easier to stutterstep on mobile , all you need to do for it on pc is to have the cursor over the target and tap A?

orbwalking is always easier to execute on mouse and keyboard in addition to being more precise . an autoaim feature has no place on the pc version .

We do not need to dumb the gameplay down to the point where the game plays itself.

On PC, pressing A does not require your mouse to be exactly over a target. It will pick the target closest to your mouse, with some additional magnetism favoring heroes and low health targets.

If you switch to "Left Click Scheme", you can also use right-click to do the same thing as pressing A.

Note that unlike LoL, you don't need to A-click, you just press A and the command is issued the moment the A key is down.

I didn't know about the left click scheme-right click scheme. Does this mean I can move with left click and attack with right instead of pressing A?

oh I just know "A" feature, gonna try it
