With Onslaught, you get access to a mid-late game map in Invasion, which unlocks Eagle units. Onslaught also gives you the Amulet rogue-like campaign. You can start this campaign with different heroes depending on what DLCs you own.
The Empire Aflame and Evolution DLCs are otherwise completely independent.
So if you are playing Invasion, you could consider picking up Onslaught. If you finish Invasion, and you want more, that's when you pick up the sequel (Empire Aflame) or prequel (Evolution).
