New Guides - Fantasy General 2 - Trophy Guide and Legend Walkthrough
FG2 Community,

I have spent 600 hours playing FG2--to say I love the game and the Owned By Gravity (penchant and talent for Strategy games) studio is an understatement. I owe it to the community as a way of saying "thank you" for all the assistance in helping players. I spent around 150 hours producing this content! Hopefully, you find it valuable:

Fantasy General 2 Invasion Trophy Guide - https://psnprofiles.com/guide/18505-fantasy-general-ii-trophy-guide (in-depth review of mechanics for first-time Legend players)

Fantasy General 2 Invasion Campaign Legend Difficulty Walkthrough
A comprehensive walkthrough covering each scenario in detail - dialogue choices w/ rewards, scenario selection, and tactics/strategies for each scenario (focused on Legend)
https://psnprofiles.com/guide/18506-fantasy-general-ii-invasion-campaign-legend-difficulty-walkthrough

Onslaught DLC Trophy Guide (mini-walkthrough) - https://psnprofiles.com/guide/18837-fantasy-general-ii-onslaught-dlc-trophy-guide

The Walkthrough explicitly calls out Kaysoky, HeathenSW, and Virgil-SKY along with the "legend" himself: primetide_dev

I produced all of the content by doing my 2nd Legend playthrough and documenting as much as possible. I left out things such as the Treasure Map, Message In A Bottle artifacts, duplicating items with Ranged Beastmaster Falirson, etc.

I am very open to feedback and suggestions for additional content from those interested. My target audience is experienced Turn-Based Strategy fans who are trophy hunters. I am one myself, and I was hesitant to try the game since nobody on PlayStation had gotten 100% achievements. I took the plunge and am SO glad I did.

I am working on The Empire Aflame DLC trophy guide AND Legend Walkthrough, and then I will finish with the Evolution DLC providing step-by-step instructions on approaching the infamous EggHunt. If any of you (Kaysoky is the most active still) are interested in contributing, I am very open to collaboration. I will gladly welcome any assistance you want—early feedback reviews, content contributions, whatever floats your boat.

Thank you for reading. I hope you all find the content helpful and valuable. Having something "all in one place" was my biggest challenge when searching for online guidance.

Regards,
ByteTyson

Very nice job!

I'm still reading the Legend difficulty walkthrough, but the trophy guides are excellent.

Although it seems like the trophy count is a bit different on playstation? Particularly for the Onslaught campaigns. Steam has achievements for completing Onslaught as Falirson the Hunter, Szzlag, and Marcra (Not sure if the last two require specific DLC). And has 4 achievements for the separate routes you can take through the Amulet of Power campaign.

Correct, the Steam "Achievements" are different (there are more on Steam) than the PlayStation "Trophies"

Empire Aflame I plan to rate an 8 / 10 difficulty due to Save Marcra! on Legend.
Evolution I plan to rate a 9/10 difficulty due to EggHunt.

I wish they had the Tale of Falir Short campaign trophies. The Legend Difficulty of that 3 scenario campaign is literally an 11/10 and by far the hardest thing I have ever done in gaming.

Real good write-up! Reading legendary walkthrough currently, didn't know that there is a condition to get birds from Doughal - I thought that he always gives them to you. But I almost always had chosen the first option.

A smol notice that may be interesting to try:
- "Path of the Leader" counters Kinslayer pretty well - an aura of net total increase of +30% damage to human enemies and +10% increase damage to anybody, morale +1 and morale -1 from these auras will just counter eachother. It's especially insane if you go with Falirson Beastmaster and get aura of increased damage for animals - they will increase their damage against humans real good.

But yeah, this way Falirson is in more passive role. With the 3rd choice he'll do much more damage by himself.

A tiny correction/advice for Scenario 3:

- You can lure trolls with your bird unit, so that they vacate the caves area mostly. For that you need to end your turn with them over troll unit (use "m" hotkey to order them to move into the hex and not attack). If trolls don't follow - attack them once with birds and that should trigger them. If I recall correctly some will not move even with that (mostly happens to those that are on cave hex), but every free-roaming troll unit should follow. Just need to go slow, like 3 hexes in the direction you need them to follow you, since if they loose sight of you they will return

This way you'll spend way less time there and will be able to get to that last ruin in the south-east just in time (beware though, since it's also guarded by bear in the woods). Plus if you lead trolls to the south-west corner part of the map - spawned enemy un the south-center will be sandwithed between your army form the east and trolls from the west, making everything easier, but possibly costing you some exp.

- Sending stags in the middle at the map start alone is quite dangerous. There's bear there that will eather nom them hard or make them retreat and thus loose you some turns. The bear usually comes out of the woods to attack you when you attack that north-west village or go towards the unexplored camp (one with dire wolves).

- These particular Dire Wolves only look disposable. If you keep them alive - on the worldmap right after this map they will loose "weak" debuff and become a permanent unit. Since they have a permanent brave buff they can make above average Spirit Wolf that's less vulnurable to magic than normal one (+7% more magic resist due to that extra +1 morale).

Ahhh, yes, I recall reading these points from you. I did not know about the wolves joining your army! I thought they had the 'temporary' silver icon on their portrait. I always wondered "how the hell did HeathenSW get spirit wolves so early?" now I know!

And technically I used your "functionally immortal" language, so I hope you don't submit a plagiarism claim, but that phrase is all you man! hence the shoutout in the walkthrough!
HeathenSW Mar 22, 2024 @ 1:52pm
Nah, feel free to use it, it's a cool phrase :D

I wonder if Falirson the Hunter might be worth a callout. On Legend difficulty, I'd argue it is much easier to play as the Hunter, due to being able to tame a frontline of Bears and Monstrous Spiders. Their 1-unit size means you never need to spend gold on recovering their losses.

Agreed, honestly. There are some places to tame buffed bears ("strong" buff, I believe and for some reason more HP) and monstrous spiders are just amazing overall. Plus ranged spiders with Web to keep enemies from running away constantly.

Plus that "bug" with being kinslayer, agreeing them Machnar thanes into your army after Under Attack and firing them - you will get supply for them permanently and so it will be equal to the supply of maxxed Warrior Falirson. Otherwise you are at -2 supply overall, since there's no second perk to increase supply on Hunter.

The supply on the PlayStation ends up being +4. I tested it. I got the Thanes +2 and the scenario gives you +4 regardless of what choice you pick. I expected to get +6 supply (2 from the Thanes and 4 from the rewards) but the game only gives +4 regardless (at least on Playstation). Thus, I concluded the other two options are better since the gold you get exceeds that of selling the Thanes and the supply is +4 no matter what.
HeathenSW Mar 22, 2024 @ 2:02pm
Huh. I guess playstation is really different. If it's that then yeah, other options are better.
bitetyson59 Mar 22, 2024 @ 2:08pm
So the reason I don't discuss Ranged Beastmaster Falirson is that most trophy guides and walkthroughs are written from the perspective of how to get 100% trophies in the shortest amount of time. Since the Bear Mount trophy requires Falirson to be Close Combat and you cannot get it with the Ranged Beastmaster, that was the primary reason I focused on Close Combat and don't narrate the pros/cons of Ranged Beastmaster. Although one could make the argument that it is 'easier' to beat Legend with Ranged Beastmaster and hence takes LESS time, then the player would have to play up to Under Attack! as Close Combat to get that trophy only for the Platinum.

I may load a save checkpoint and test it again to be 100% sure. I am almost certain I noticed this point when I tested it because I made sure to get Kinslayer so I have that option available. Will try to test again to be 1000% sure

Right, but you already suggest having 2 playthroughs (1 legend, 1 easy Iron maiden).

But that said, the Beastmaster Falirson playthrough is very focused on getting Bears. So you have to list out all the places that get bears, where to get Strong Bears, and eventually spiders... so it would be quite a different guide.
bitetyson59 Mar 22, 2024 @ 2:21pm
Yes, you are right, i forgot about the Easy IRON MAIDEN playthrough. You are spot on in that I could move the Bear Mount trophy to Stage 2 and pick it up during that run. Admittedly, I have not played as much with Ranged Beastmaster and would rather spend the time on the Empire Aflame DLC and Evolution DLC guides rather than reupdating the guide for Ranged Beastmaster strategies.

Also Heathen and Kaysoky, I can add you as contributors for the Empire Aflame DLC and Evolution DLC guides if you want to 'pre-review' the content or contribute in anyway. I am on Scenario 8 now in Empire Aflame and have the guides started but are in draft form.

Also interested if either of you have any additional Tips and Strategies items I can add. I brainstormed as many as I could, but I suspect I left out certain mechanics/nuances, and I can easily update that section to add more if you guys can think of any.
