Stacking Bonuses - Bug or Intended?
I was thinking of starting over and taking the bonus to give Failson (yeah not actually his name) +20% damage and +health since Thanes could provide the +10% "leader nearby" bonus but decided to do a test first. In case anyone was wondering, these bonuses do stack. A unit next to a Thane gets +1 morale/+10% damage. A unit next to a thane and Failson with the leader perk gets +2 morale/+20% damage. I assume adding more thanes would continue the stacking.

It appears that Tough also stacks in this manner, and Failson's ability + the steel standard + axemen's innate Tough perk gives +45% death resistance and makes them extremely hardy.

Is this working as intended or should the bonuses not stack? I lean towards it making more sense for identical bonuses not to stack but it's a close call so I'm not sure?

Yep, multiple thane bonuses stack. Why they shouldn't?

they all stack. banners stack too. and multiple identical rings, etc. 5 banners of +10% damage, +1 morale, and your squad is immune to magic damage and does 50% more dps. lizard lands difficult? naa. just a leasurly stroll with full immunty.

its disgusting how broken staking buffs can be.

you can also farm traits from blood trees in lizard lands, those stack too. i gave everything to my leader, he is....a monster. literally.

+6 starting mana stacks too, i THINK. from blood trees, if you save scum you can have up to 4 on your hero? never tried, but i did have 3 rune-bound at a time on my caster. i reloaded tho, mana is easy to get with other methods.

For gameplay reasons, Fullmetal Schizoid. It's hard to balance things when the player can stack crazy bonuses of the same type so you have no idea how tough to make the opposition.

+10% to damage per aura doesn't really look all that crazy to me, what are you gonna do, make an entire army out of thanes? There are better units to use supply limit on, I think.

for sure it is more easy to calculate for the player and the game ...

take D&D there you have the opposite, many items , which don't stack ...
it is terrible fun , if you have ONE CHAR to max that values but a nightmare, if you have a group or even an army ... the micromanagment hell and after a short time you ignore it !

As we have here a whole army, you are more connected to all units if you have a plain system ... if you use that D&D ruleset, it is too much for 99% of the players, I think !

For a very small group , I also would prefer that D&D ruleset, but even when you have 5 chars it is somehow not fun anymore ...

To answer the OP: Stacking is intended and we fully realize it allows special builds that focus around unist supporting each other. We don't see this as abuse, as it requires other "sacrifices" and also means a build is open to other counters (an all Thanes squad fares less good against arbalests, skirmishers and line chargers for example and lacks damage output a little) and it costs to build up.
So while we may see balancing aorund certain excesses in that, the base mechanic is intended.

Thanks for the reply, makes sense. It does make the Path of the Leader perk for your PC more interesting if it can't simply be replaced with a banner or a thane.

2 thanes, each with 2 banners. +60% damage, +6 morale. banners drop quite often. i have 5.
