Any Advantage to Picking Barbarians over Trolls

In the second scenario I chose to defend the trolls from the barbarians raiding their encampment. I understand a troll hero will join you later on for doing this. Any advantage to picking the barbarian side? I also let them both kill each other and got gold out of it, but reloaded later.

Help human, you will have a chance to get some human mercs in Under Attack and Into the Trollwood. Help trolls, you get troll mercs in Clanhold Machnar. Both enables dialog options when you trigger related events. There is no perma effects on your playthrough.

Virgil, do you get offered the Trolls later if you choose the barbarians? I have always sided with the Trolls as I didn't want to miss out on the Troll Hurlers.

If you mean the one comes before Into the Sunken Lands, yes they still come.

Do you get the two brother Trolls, or is that entirely dependent on you choices with, um, the female Troll whats-her-name?

As long as you let Tir go, she will always send that Troll Hurler to you.
