What difficulty is that on? And did you ever save and reload when you got a bad result? That seems a bit high to me although I agree there is plenty of gold.
Are you deliberately keeping your heroes all together and maximizing their Exp collection as a group? That also seems on the high side to me, although I can imagine it's possible if you focus on collecting as much of the Exp for the whole group as possible.
I kind of wish the Exp were divided evenly among all units in range, rather than given fully to all, so there wouldn't be the "strategy" of crowding everyone together to get more Exp. But it also doesn't matter that much if you just don't optimize for it.
I am playing on normal difficulty. And no I don't save scum for golds. It is tedious enough to save scum for artifacts that are actually useful. If any, I save scum to avoid getting golds half way through. Most of my golds come from finishing the missions quickly.
For exp, I do group units together to maximize exp gains if possible.
So it would be fair that you treat this more as an experience of enjoying becoming more powerful rather than a strategy challenge where you're fighting to win?
And that´s much more worse than getting the 25 gold per tick for finishing the map early.
As someone wrote above, in midgame you will swim in gold since you can do not much with it once you got your roster of units.
