IMO...
Great Game / Series...
Great graphics
The ship battles are a board game / which doesnt bother me / i prefer it.
*******************************************************************
But...
Some things that really annoy me is its scaling based on networth.
The better you play, the more penalized you are..
I cant be bothered pulling real figures from in game..
But for example..... Its like....
If you own 1 million,
And earn 1 million/year
It charges you 1 million
But if you own 10 million
And earn 1 million/year
It charges you 10 million.
So now 10x worst off.
So need to keep your networth low.
And own 100k
And earn 1million /year
And get charged 100k.
My last game, i took over all of my countries cities, and other nation's cities..
So owned the whole map + mass of wargalleons and ship of the line's.
And the game comes to a halt, where fame / building rights / etc all become too expensive to level up or buy..
And i struggle to play a game thats based on "Stay small, or be severely penalized"
Goes against the principle of a 4x game...
But then again, maybe thats my problem / playing it as a 4x game. :)
Maybe im just meant to sail around, look at the pretty sunsets, and do a bit of light trading.. :)
Have fun.
No matter if you want to buy from a store or from key-shop then it looks as the site for listings is gg.deals (had never heard of it before myself)
Personally I were tempted by the very cheap Epic offer (for me it were around equivalent of € 15 for the extended version), but I am still not so hot on Epic game store (I had one of their games installed and deleted it immediately when I found no controller support)) and I am not so hyped that I am going to buy Port Royale 4 from a 'Key store'..
The only 'key seller' that I regularly use is DailyIndieGame , the cheap bundle seller that also sells keys if you look closer. Though the last keys I bought were some Autonaut keys that I gifted away , those I bought very cheap from Ebay where there is recognized PayPal buyer protection...
