AppGameKit Studio

AppGameKit Studio

AppGameKit Studio is a bluff package..It's the same as AGK Classic...same examples ...Scene Editor in Studio = Visual Editor in Classic
I did not found any examples for the "Scene Editor" in AppGameKit Studio :-(. This is very very sad...because i paid 60 Euro for it....Game Maker Studio did it much better with a lot of examples and good documentation.... AppGameKit Studio needs a big example Game (Project) with a lot of Scenes, (Scrolling Scenes)...and so on...the users want to see ,what the software is able to do ...i did not see the added value in AppGameKit Studio Version vs Classic because the examples are the same as in Classic version.....that's minimun requirement for good software....i'm very angry about this fact....the example projects are exactly the same than in classic version....

The main advances with Studio include the new IDE which has the build in scene editing features, and the new Vulkan rendering engine. We have kept Studio as close to AGK Classic to ensure all your AGK Classic projects will run and compile under Studio without needing to be changed. As a small team we were not able to make lots of new examples but there are plenty of examples of apps created by users in both Classic and Studio. Studio will be the main product moving forward so in time I hope you will see the benefits it has to offer.

There's other improvements, too. Like the pop-up ad you have to close every time you launch Studio.

it's not all that you are looking for but have you seen this series of Studio videos?
https://youtu.be/jZRBqjx41xA
...tho, i'm not sure where the Source might be or if it's available yet.

otherwise, the Sneak Peek videos demonstrate a lot of what Studio offers:
https://youtu.be/dYsRJ6S2CnE
...which is well beyond Classic + Visual Editor

finally, some new examples were developed for Studio:

...complete with media and source code.

The example link above isn't for APPGameKit Studio, it's for the Classic Version, because there are no ".scene - Files" in it and AppGameKit Studio needs ".scene" Files...
primack70 Oct 24, 2020 @ 3:53am
R E S U L T: STILL NO ".SCENE" EXAMPLE Files available for APPGAMEKIT STUDIO,
this is very sad, because the STUDIO VESION advertised with the "brand new" SCENE EDITOR (Ha, Ha) , and you can't find any example for the SCENE EDITOR...very very unsatisfying situation...we talk about 60 EURO for full version and no example Scene Files included...that is something that makes me angry...:-/ Look at Godot or Game Maker Studio 2.3 they did very well with examples and documentation....Godot is free and has very big example files and furthermore it has a sprite animation editor and collision shape editor..etc...APPGAMEKIT Studio didn't have any of these features and is very far away from beeing a "STUDIO Version..."

Hands on App Game Kit Studio - Books http://www.digital-skills.co.uk/agk2.html (They are great !! I bought both) I bought the PDFs, they are really useful. Also for searching or anotating
primack70 Oct 25, 2020 @ 5:16am
i downloaded the example files from the book ......Result: No executable examples ....neither there is any full executable game example in it....and i did not found any example "Scene" in the book..."hands off " this appgamekit book...very expensive and it seems outdated ...as an collection of sources from the old classic version....there is more content in the pong example from appgamekit classic than in this book....:-/

The new Studio AGK use the new Vulcan engine. That's what is really new about this product and why you paid a 60 buck i believe. They also kept it compatible with Classic, which is very GOOD. We complain about backward compatibility, but when the dev take the time to do a compatible product we complain again because we assume it is 'the same product'... C'mon guys... We need to give them a chance here and understand what they did.

Okay... here is the deal: Game Maker Studio 2.3 -> 90 Dollar :-)) price is absolutly okay -->
AppGameKit Studio -> 99 Dollar :-((. What ??? :-O That isn't okay at all..!!! NO !!!
The pricing policy is very confusing to me....look.....:
AppGameKit Studio 99 Dollar ;-((, Studio Version has no Animation Editor.. no Sprite Editor and no Tileset Editor !!!...and so on and so on..and exactly the same language like .AppGameKit Classic 15 Dollar ;-)) That's okay !

GameMaker is 2D only, AppGameKit studio has Vulkan support and also 3D
primack70 Nov 7, 2020 @ 1:20pm
Godot Engine is total free and has also Vulkan support and amazing 3D and 2D features...
It has Sprite Editor, Animation Editor, Event Editor and Tileset Editor. AGK has nothing from these features...

i really enjoy the new app game kit. Love the layout and the handling of media. The help system is great and perfect for a beginner with no experience as me. The particle editor was insane too. So many examples!. Some of the most helpful stuff in the beginning was guides on youtube. ( Sparckman & Rick ) it was almost annoying to see how easy it was for them. Well now some years later i too can send out to make a simple game, in a short time. As i improve i learn more and more. I now use: Corel paintshop, Spriter 2d anim, Blender aswell as Music maker. I feel as App game kit is really heading out to teach me. It holds my hand and carry me along. but ofcorse i do not expect the same as a professional creator probably does. I have never used the scene editor but knowing app game kit it's probably easy to setup once you know how. And thats where it gets even greater. Since App game kit studio is so identical to classic, all the guides and examples are still usable. And as time goes there will be more examples and guides. This making it even more enjoyable for the new buyer to day, then it was for me some years ago. I am so glad its so alike the app game classic i know and loved from before. "how you managed to get a boy like me, with learning disability in writing to enjoy these text lines, hour after hour i will never know". Wish we had this at school when i was growing up. I wound have written and learned English with joy :steamhappy:

@Primack70 ! You are looking from a completelly wrong perspective onto the "AGK Studio" Product and there is so much "hate" in your comments. We all agree with you. Yes AGK has no 3D Editor, Yes AGK has no Sprite Editor, Yes AGK has no Tiles Editor. But what you do not understand is " Even without that, you can still make great games ! Have fun with the Tile Editor in Godot. I worked with it. It's a mess ! It's easier to "paint" Tiles with the 2D Editor in AGK directly into your scene! You should learn, that not the product with the most features is the best ! Because less is often more ! If you want the best, go and use Unreal or Unity 3D. But i'm sure you will make 5 Apps with AGK but only a 3/4 App with Unity or Unreal in the same time! And the App with Unreal will have 500MB or more while the App with AGK will use 130MB. The Text from @RotaMafia was on point ! And i agree with every single line of his text !
