Certainly sounds that way, but given how much DLC they've made, and sold, for GZ I don't know if cash flow is the real issue.

I hope now that they're about done with GZ that they'll revisit this game instead of leaving it offline forever. This game could have been amazing if they had just put in the time and effort to fix the issues, and as they said in that post they were pretty close to the finish line.

There just greedy plain and simple, they saw idiots will spend a fortune on small crappy DLCs that add near nothing over and over again and decided to keep doing it abandoning a brilliant game that had brilliant game play ran smoothly and basically zero bugs off launch, got 2 updates and died as the GZ a game they haven added one thing they said they would continues the DLC skin train

If I had to guess; it didn't make enough money. They made a painfully middling co-op shooter with odd choices in design, bad balancing, and then didn't know where to go with it. Are we a missoin based co-op shooter? Or are we an open world live service with season goals?

I still don't know why the guns weren't hitscan in a game like this.

No they didn't.

They didn't want to fix the problems they caused by half-assing the design so decided to just keep the money they took while lying to people for several years.

They killed support for their other game too when the community wouldn't play ball with their insistence on live service restrictions for single player games.

Went right back to selling more cosmetics for the generation zero people.

What we got is a tech demo/testing platform for their garbage DRM that they're going to infuse into all of their future mishaps.

A tech demo that got dumped on Early Access and left to rot for years.

What did they do during all of that time? Well besides keep on selling this ♥♥♥♥ even though it was quite clearly abandoned. Add more profile decals?!

Early Access is not meant for crowd funding. Apparently they didn't get that memo.

Why was it canceled?

Greed, apathy, laziness, mismanagement etc. The usual suspects.
