Game freezing at launch (FIXED) - Voicemeeter Bug
Haven't played since mid December, but it's been unplayable for a few days now. Whenever I try opening the game it reaches the Apex Splash Screen and just freezes. I don't get any error notifications, even after leaving it for over half an hour.

Anyone else have a similar issue, or know a fix?

UPDATE - After messing around with my background programs I've discovered that Voicemeeter is what caused the issue. Shutting down Voicemeeter fixed the problem and now I can play the game!

Even if I shut down the program before opening the game, I can boot Voicemeeter back up with my own settings and it works fine.

Not exactly sure why it does this, but I think it might be linked to either the Hardware Output or Buffering settings within Voicemeeter.

Delete the Avalanche folder on your My Documents. Fixes it for me.

I tried that method already, even reinstalling the game, and it still freezes for me.
I also tried opening the game in windowed mode with low settings but that did nothing.

Try spamming ESC after Left Clicking into it. Works for me, although I have to force shut it off once or twice first initially.

I've done all that people have tried and it seems more of a random event when it works. Turn off steam overlay, discord overlay, nvidia overlay, and Win 10 Game bar.
Delete a file, reset the game, turn off this and that. Turn off Cortona.

Put one hand in the air and one leg behind your head, while twirling on a candy-cane singing MMMBop.

Its just random.

A friend of mine told me to do the same thing with ENTER before. Tried both ways about 10 times each without success.

Yeah, tried all that too. Now I have a broken leg and a red stain on my carpet.

I wonder if it could have anything to do with HDR. Sometimes I get a loading black screen and I can see the monitor is trying to change HDR settings. back and forth.
I don't have HDR enabled on my monitor/s so I don't think that's the case.

I can't start the game either. Steam says "Running", but nothing happens, not even a single twitch on the screen. And I can't play any other game unless I restart my Laptop. My son has the same laptop and got the game at the same time as I and he can launch, but then it crashes almost immediately. It's nice to have paid money (twice) for an invisible game...

Exactly. I have that same problem to. Reaches Apex Screen, then freezes. I have to forcefully shut the app down. After 2-3 attempts, it finally opens!

I believe it's the APEX engine. It creates beautiful landscapes but seems to be unstable. The GenZ forum is full of similar issues. I don't have
theHunter: Call of the Wild but I understand they have issues also. I haven't had much trouble with this nor GenZ but others have.
I have TheHunter and it works fine on the same Laptop. Maybe I can play after the next updates..?

idk if it was the patch or not, but i also made an exception for the game through my virus protection and now it's not freezing. At least on the first 2 attempts. That may have been my issue all along. but like i said, idk what the update was either. Guess i'll find out in the next few days.

I just tried everything on the list and now it's a bit more unstable.
Sometimes it freezes on the last splash screen, sometimes it fades to black, sometimes the game crashes, it's all random.

I managed to get to the main menu screen ONCE (finally), so I tried a second time to see if it fixed and now it's back to freezing/crashing.

My PC specs can be found on my steam profile.

I got a Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1070 G1 Gaming 8G

My game does that fairly often but so far a reboot has worked each time.
