Save File Location
Hey Folks!

A lot of people have asked where the save files are located, so I thought I'd pin a topic for anyone else who might be wondering.

The easiest way to find your save folder is to open the game's Options screen (either via the Main Menu's Options button, or via the Escape menu in-game and clicking Game Options.

Then click Files, and you'll see an entry for "Saves/Settings." Clicking the red button next to that will open a File Explorer window in that directory.

Alternately, you can navigate there manually by looking for:

C:\Users\<username>\AppData\LocalLow\Blue Bottle Games\Ostranauts\Saves\

where <username> is your Windows username.

Inside that folder, there is a folder for each save game. Each of those save folders contains:

saveInfo.json - preview info for the save
portrait.png - the preview portrait for that save
screenshot.png - a screenshot taken at save time
<folder_name>.zip - a zip file with all game data, and <folder_name> matching parent folder's name.

If you are going to share a save, we only really need the .zip file in your save's folder.

Then, upload that zip file to your file sharing site of choice (e.g. Google Drive, DropBox, etc.), and provide us with the URL. Be sure to set permissions on it so that anyone with the link can view it!

Hope this helps!

Hello!
Which specific parameters do I need to use to rezip the files after unzipping and editing them? :)

I like to fiddle with things.

Default parameters should be fine!

Ah, thank you.

In case someone else has this issue; I had 7zip set to "tc=off". That, or some other setting I changed must have messed things up.

Is there anyway to move the save folder from C:users?
Thanks

So I alter the files in zip folder but they don't change anything in game
I also would like to move my saves, once I realized where they were, I decided to turn max autosaves back down b/c I don't know how big they will become/are. Thanks!

What do you mean you "have no access to"? You can't see the save files in the game? You can't find the folder? Or something else?

When I open the save files in the game they wont load. When I search for them in The Game. When on Desktop files are accessible. Profile pic, ship schematics, etc. However, I can't access them on either surface.
