I think if you were playing the game straight, it'd be a restart moment. There are a few tricks that might work, but they're long shots.
1 - The occasional gig in Gig Nexus involves transporting an RCS Intake to a client. You could get lucky and take that gig, making off with the cargo (and eating the collateral cost).
2 - The fixer has a 20% chance of selling an RCS distro during any restock event. It'd be a long wait, perhaps, but a possibility.
More realistically, there are some semi-cheating options you could use.
3 - If you get on your ship's nav, there's a Debug Quick Travel dropdown you can access by unscrewing the main panel. Clicking the Dock button there will insta-dock you to whichever ship is currently selected in the drop-down. (You'll need to do the "debug" action on your nav to get rid of that software error on its screen, if you want to select the target visually. And fly again.)
4 - You can use the debug console to spawn a new RCS into your inventory. E.g.:
spawn ItmRCSDistro01Loose
(The "spawn" command takes the name of a loot.json or loot_self_reference.json entry as a param.)
In the future, this might be less of a problem. Our next update, 0.12, will also include buying/selling ships, and it's possible that selling your ship and buying a new one at the kiosk would get you out of a pinch.
0.12 is may also include some sort of ferry/shuttle service to get you to and from other stations nearby without a ship. (We're still playtesting this to see if it fits the game.)
Hopefully, one of those tips helps!
a suggestion: as a failsafe to ensure this doesn't happen, there should be a shop that allows you to purchase all of the (low tier, possibly even damaged?) parts to build-your-own ship.
or allow for a repurchase from the general scrap vendor for as much as you sold it for
i did end up restarting, and after running away with some keys, now have a large ship and plenty of money.
So we'll be tossing that idea (a way to buy bare-bones ship necessities) around a bit!
