Cannot Open Airlock

So I'm admittedly new to the game, and for some reason I cannot open this exterior airlock. It keeps giving me an error that I either cannot get there, or something about shore leave.

I've successfully docked with the ship so I'm unsure of the issue. I'll include a picture here:

Also, please ignore the yellow exclamation point. It was a order I gave by accident and forgot to remove it before taking the picture, it has nothing to do with the issue as even after removing the order the issue persists.

right click the actual airlock doors to open them, and if that doesn't work, change your character's permissions in the crew window on the left

Are you wearing a helmet? and are you still having issues?

If you've tried these things, and you're still having issues, you may have ran into a new bug from the latest patch - update me if you can!

I figured it out, ana was right and I hadn't allowed my character the capability to leave the ship so it kept blocking the action. One question I do have though is, everytime I start the game there are always two patrol ships in the vicinity, and one of them immediately tries to ram my ship lol. Every time. Any idea why?
