However, they can also end up wearing helmets as a result of picking them up. It's the first slot they try (similar to shoes trying the feet first).
I recently tested the AI's helmet discipline when checking the OKLG dead bodies, and believe it or not, they're pretty good about taking them off when needed.
I did find two exceptions, though.
1 - If they are knocked out while wearing them. (This includes being spawned with extreme duress, which I think is a large part of the bodies we see on OKLG.)
2 - They go to sleep wearing them.
Both of these are bugs we have logged and will be looking into.
If you notice your NPC crew having trouble with helmets, and it's not one of the above two cases, let us know!
Same here, had to lock out the helmets to stop my crew from sufocating. At least make them put on the whole suit, not just the helmet. Right now its like they put a plastic bag over their heads when they just use the helmets.
And it *does* seem suspicious that they reached for the helmets again without permissions to disembark/open airlocks. I'll make a note to test that and see if there's a bug we can find and fix.
Mine will be going nowhere and literally take the helmet off the clip on their suit to put it on for no reason at all that I can discern. Even in a safe environment with disembark and airlock permissions off.
Well, not really dying, but my crew is constantly putting on their helmet for the pressure suit until they start suffocating and then taking it off again, just to put it on a few minutes later again.
The especially annoying thing is that when they start suffocating you get the 'xxx has a problem' message and it reduces your game speed to 1x. This is generally useful, but not if my crew has a suffocating kink.
And the only thing that is 'wrong' is that my heater has a bit of a hard time to heat up all of the ship at the same time.
I'm having this issue now.
I feel like their evaluation of unsafe environments to go to is not working as intended. Seems like they consider some doors inside my vessel as airlocks and some are not even though the actual airlock door is adjacent to a 0kpa environment.
