Crew still putting on EVA helmets for no reason?
Is this a WIP? Been around for awhile. Am I missing something? Is there a reason why they put it on? Just hanging around on ship doing maintenance. Eye protection?

Thanks!

Hmm. The AI will deliberately put a helmet on if they are considering a path that goes through an unsafe pressure.

However, they can also end up wearing helmets as a result of picking them up. It's the first slot they try (similar to shoes trying the feet first).

I recently tested the AI's helmet discipline when checking the OKLG dead bodies, and believe it or not, they're pretty good about taking them off when needed.

I did find two exceptions, though.

1 - If they are knocked out while wearing them. (This includes being spawned with extreme duress, which I think is a large part of the bodies we see on OKLG.)
2 - They go to sleep wearing them.

Both of these are bugs we have logged and will be looking into.

If you notice your NPC crew having trouble with helmets, and it's not one of the above two cases, let us know!

Interesting. I put the helmet in a bin. The crew is ordered to not leave the ship and not disembark. All of the ship is pressurized. He puts a helmet on just to repair inside the ship.

Same here, had to lock out the helmets to stop my crew from sufocating. At least make them put on the whole suit, not just the helmet. Right now its like they put a plastic bag over their heads when they just use the helmets.

Are crew still dying with helmets on in 0.11.0.7? Because if they are, we need to figure out why. Using the latest patch, our testing didn't show any dead NPCs from that behavior (unless they got knocked out with a helmet on).

And it *does* seem suspicious that they reached for the helmets again without permissions to disembark/open airlocks. I'll make a note to test that and see if there's a bug we can find and fix.

For me both crew and people on station put on helmets the moment low pressure alert pops out. Even if its N2 pressure, they stil look for helmets. Right now on station port floor there are 4 dead people and only one guy still alive, propably cause he is using full eve suit.

Well my crew man will get a "gasp for air" message while in a completely stable atmospheric room that the player is also in. It's random and doesn't show in the status effects, only the verbose and goes away as quick as it comes.

I have same issue as Brandemihl. My character even died once (sudden asphyxiation) in a room with normal oxygen pressure. Maybe wearing EVA suit has something to do with it? I get message for gasping for air every time I wear any helmet, even EVA one with o2 bottle and full battery.

Mine will be going nowhere and literally take the helmet off the clip on their suit to put it on for no reason at all that I can discern. Even in a safe environment with disembark and airlock permissions off.

Well, not really dying, but my crew is constantly putting on their helmet for the pressure suit until they start suffocating and then taking it off again, just to put it on a few minutes later again.
The especially annoying thing is that when they start suffocating you get the 'xxx has a problem' message and it reduces your game speed to 1x. This is generally useful, but not if my crew has a suffocating kink.
And the only thing that is 'wrong' is that my heater has a bit of a hard time to heat up all of the ship at the same time.

I'm having this issue now.

Not the dying bit but currently they put on helmets pretty much constantly even when they intend to enter KLEG. Pretty sure KLEG should be considered very safe pressure wise. Don't know why. Maybe because they only consider pressure difference between the ship and KLEG as important and not the actual inside pressure content of KLEG? Even inside my own ship they constantly put on their helmets even before they actually go outside on their own and sometimes when they don't put them on before they want to go outside if they don't go through the airlock but through a self made airlock with normal doors instead.

I feel like their evaluation of unsafe environments to go to is not working as intended. Seems like they consider some doors inside my vessel as airlocks and some are not even though the actual airlock door is adjacent to a 0kpa environment.
