Just starting out and wen i leave station my fuel is low , i buy power and air at station but fuel always low - wot am i missing

I've run into where I merely placed the N2 RTA at the RCS pump and it will still propel you but if its not actually installed it won't refill at the the station.

Also RCS N2 is usually different from breathing N2...
Unless you've deliberately tied the RCS into your Breathing N2. You can also tie it into the O2, etc.

im on the starter shuttle , done a few salvages now t cant refuel so as soon as i undock im driftin in space , cant turn ship or anything

Does the map image on the nav screen shift or rotate whenever you'r trying to move? There are times when I've reset the nav console to map mode for a variety of reasons and then forgot to switch it back when I wanted to maneuver my ship. Speaking of the nav screen it should list all available fuel for your thrusters in the second paragraph from the bottom in that long list of information to the right of the map. At least I think it's the second paragraph from the bottom, I'll admit I can't remember the exact order of information without actually looking at it.

Also, make sure both your intakes and thrusters are getting power, and that you have a charged battery that is connected to your power grid.

RCS had one plus and soon as i undocked it was gone - could this be my problem

Found the problem - the rcs n2 buy bar was slide to empty so wont ever buy fuel wen i brought air etc

If you ever find yourself in a similar situation in the yard: no RCS but you have a full O2 tank and you're adrift, try swapping the cans. RCS will run on O2. It's just phenomenally expensive.

this thus means that technically RCS can run off of any gas resource in the game (CO2 RCS anyone?) buuuuuut, considering the price and importance of the other types of gas (and the amount of CO2 produced) N2 really is the only remass you should use

There's a whole thread in here where folks brag about the odd gases they run through the RCS and where/how they harvest or steal them and how to deal with the temperature shifts, ad nauseam. Too fussy for my taste but I have had to do the O2/N2 swap in a pinch when stuff goes wrong.
