Torch Drive
Do I have one? Is it an item? I know I need a fusion reactor running to make one work, is that all I need? (fusion reactor and all the spindly bits that make it not explode and the fuel for it that is)

Have you looked through the in-game Fusion Reactor manual? It lays it all out pretty clearly.

So page 18 of the fusion reactor manual I guess where it briefly mentions reactor thrust settings? I'm not asking how to set up a reactor, but I guess the reactor is the torch drive then. Thanks.
No probalo. There's also Data Files on the Components that goes into more details as well which is pretty cool. There's also this neat guide on Reddit. which might help with the actual flight aspect. The Ostrawiki page on Fusion is a work-in-progress as well.[ostranauts.wiki.gg] I think there's also been a few questions asked about the Reactor/Torch on here and on the Discord, if you search "Fusion Torch" it brings up a good amount of results!

Yup. The torch drive is essentially abstracted as part of your reactor setup. Most people expect a big ole thruster on the back or something, but apparently it's beneath the ship?

Most likely, it's burning "downward" so that the resulting g-force ends up pushing "down", emulating actual gravity instead of forcing the crew to the "back" of the ship, like it would if the plasma was vented of of the ship's rear end like a traditional rocket. And that's the reason the magnetic coils are installed onto a 1-tile hole, it's effectively an exhaust vent, with the plume shaped by magnetic fields.

Ah there's the answer I was looking for.
