Highly suggest making sure your pumps are off first, and the lock to okleg is closed too, hah.
Note, you do NOT need an EVA suit to go 'outside'. There is literally no difference in the operation of pressure suit vs EVA suit. EVA suit you get more bells and whistles is all.
Haha Well, i did that and got it back but i had a few people black out inside the station. Next time i know to turn pumps off and lock the doors. thanks! It was fun!
I thought with an EVA i got more oxygen time and stuff?
You get an O2 supply, light and co2 managment with EVA.
Edit: Oh, it's also armoured. Though, most things go through EVA suits like paper anyways, so 'armour' is subjective. I suggest heading to Venus and...uh... 'borrowing' some of their display models. So MANY colours. Some have more armour then others, but...again... paper, yo...
Also, PROTIP: The lock to the left of where you dock at okleg? Hack both the doors. That way if you want to go 'outside' to work on your ship you don't have to pull stupid hijinks.
Another one: The shop in the bar area, it sells a TINY door, that is great. One of the first things I do when re-building/building a ship is to set it up so you don't need to go into the 'livable' areas of the ship to get to the cargo storage area from the airlock (as in I set up a double door setup leading to the normal areas, and a direct path to the cargo area from the airlock). And in the little setup between doors and the lock, I place that lock on one side (and border of floors around the outside of the ship) so that any outside work can be done right quick.
This really is a must when starting out, just be careful not to get caught doing it and don't become addicted to sticking around KLEG too long at a time!
I’m really confused as to what you did. Is there a video of a YT doing it so that could see? I’m very new. Thank you
Haha, is it bad to stick around the starting area for too long?
Thank you! I’d get one but it’s over 10k!
No, not at all.
There IS no starting area. I can't use l, it's broken, so no capitals for okleg...
Buuut... okleg is, basically, a junkyard/storage area for hulls.
That's it. Thinking of it as the 'starting area' is a bad thing to get into, since you can always find wrecks around there. Hell, haulers specifically bring *new* ones out there, so it's always worth swinging by whatever you see to check it out and look for the loots.
There ARE some rather specific parts that you can't find in orbit around there, which you can find in/around Venus. But that's more due to the airship (for want of a better word) usage in atmosphere. There are also some specialist parts you can buy on la or whatever the other station is.
So, expand your horizons. Go see the things. Ferry cargo using reactor powered torch drive from Venus to okleg.
Uh.. I'm not really Ostranuting currently, but I'll see if I can hop into the ship builder right quick and try to show what I was talking about earlier, heh.
Ok, there we go. So, you have your egress area with battery chargers and a bin to store 'important salvage stuff' you need at hand. Cargo area to the left. Atmosphere area to the south.
Hatch to get outside easily. Floors around the exterior so you can walk, not float around...which is a biggie for me for some inane reason, hah.
Turbo pump at top light to turn on by hand when you are going to get down to it at a wreck.
The pump at the bottom light, there is a logic switch or something like that that you can wire up to activate when something else is activated, so you can install that and hook it up to the doors and then to that pump, if you really want. Or just keep it running. Or even do without it.
The bottom part is kind of fancy, just a single door can work just fine though. Same with the cargo area, you can double door it and keep it in vacuum if you want. Hell, double door it with a pump between the doors and just forget the walls if you really want. It's just a place to put 'stuff' after all.
Edit: Decided to actually, you know, POST the complete link...
Thank you very much!! I got it! Pretty smart!~
Yes, I learned the hard way haha, thank you!
