This game needs a serious tutorial rework
Now, I may be just doing something wrong, but I just explored my 2nd derelict, and on to the third, and all of a sudden my ship won't even move. I'm guessing I'm out of fuel, but I haven't even the slightest clue how to fix this. It's like being thrown into a sandbox without and instruction. I suppose I'll have to restart for the 5th time :(
I should say too, there is no more "tutorial" to speak of as soon as I get to my nav console, no more goals, nothing. It's quite a frustrating experience, and normally I don't enjoy hand holding games, but this seems really bare bones.
Seems very fun though, as soon as you get past the steep? learning curve.

Use the steam guides. I am doing ok and thats what I used to understand the reactor and a few other things. the navigation was easy for me but thats because i have played a few games that are very close to this one in that aspect.

I agree this game could do with a tutorial, or at least some tool tips. There´s only a handful.

A lot of it seems outdated. Every youtube vid says replace your battery with the spare right away, but there is not even a spare in my starter pod. I'm not even to the reactor part yet lol.

There are older guides which are still useful for the most part, the game can definitely be a bit obscure when you just begin, but if you just go through a couple videos you'll quickly understand the basics and realise it's actually very well done

It's just different than usual
For example i saw a lot of complaints about the piloting controls but in reality they're super intuitive and well implemented once you get the hang of it

Give it a few hours and you'll be strolling through space like you own the place

Surprisingly I figured out how to dock on the 2nd try. My main issue is, my pod is out of power/fuel and I have literally no idea how or where to get a replacement, so I'm just SOL and have to restart?

If you're at the station (OKLG), right outside below where you docked your ship there's a medium big orange device, you need to refill power, O2 and N2 ("fuel") there

Costs a bit of money

If you're not at the station, your only hope is that the derelict you're docked to has salvageable N2 canisters, they're blue and easy to notice
If there are, then swap these with yours
Don't forget to repair so they don't blow up

Thanks that's very helpful

definitely a steep learning curve, and not really helped by the fact that most external guides and materials are a couple of major patches out of date at this point.

It's one of those games where part of the fun is learning what to do at all, but also there's a LOT of weirdly specific in-world depth in the manuals. The manual is the red rectangle in the tug, it's also on the home screen of the game and if you've got 2 monitors there's a link to the PDF versions of the manuals in the ESC menu!
