Are you running a save from 0.13? That could cause issues and a fresh save is recommended.

How to make a Fresh, Home-Baked Reactor:

Ingredients (minimum viable full reactor):

2x Field Coils
4x Reactor Core Segments
1x MHD
1x Pellet Feed
1x Fuel Regulator
1x Laser Capacitor
1x Laser
1x Cryo Pump
1x Cryo Tank
1x D2O Tank
1x He3 Tank

Instructions:

Create a 5x5 floor space for your Field Coils, remove the single centre floor tile. At this point you may also wish to ensure you have enough space for the reactor as a whole. Use the Install menu or install order to use placeholders and make sure you won't run out of room! The Reactor Core requires a 5x5 floor space and the Tanks require a 7x7 floor space (as they occupy space 'under' the ship. While you're planning this out why not pre-install your Cryo, D2O, and He3 tanks?

Once you've check your space requirements install your Field Coils, this is the centre of your Fusion Torch! The Field Coils comprise of two parts placed on top of each other and both will need to be installed before you can move on to the next step.

Once the Field Coils are installed you can install your Reactor Core. The Reactor Core is made up of four quarters and will install directly over the Field Coils. It has three important corners, two input/outputs and one control panel. You will want to make sure the control panel is accessible!

Now your Reactor is all ready you can add your Cryo Pump. MHD, Laser Capacitor, Laser, Pellet Feeder, and Fuel Regulator. All of these items need to be attached to the attachment points on the Reactor. Arrange them in a manner that you find most pleasing!

If you didn't earlier, now is the time to install your Cryo, D2O, and He3 tanks. You'll also want to make sure you *have* D2O and He3 in those tanks! You can do this through the reactor panel or the Print Status button on the Nav Console.

Once this is all done you're ready to cook! Simply access the reactor panel, switch your PWR BUS to BATT, then follow the light checklist on the bottom left of the panel. After pressing the ignition switch your PWR BUS to CHRG to start enjoying the fruits of your labour!

(I think I caught everything there. You can have more Lasers/Pellet Feeders but this is just for the minimum. If in doubt take a look at built ships in the Ship Broker to get a better idea of options.)

This is 100% ridiculous.. how are you supposed to even get all those reactor parts? I wish we could buy a ship that comes with a reactor or steal one.. All cool new content is locked behind ridiculous realism that breaks the fun now for me ;/... I can only trade between flotilla because i will never make enough money t obuy a derilict or anything.. on third shift and got 44k only.. What happened to fun vs realism? Also i got this game on my other steam account :(...

You can scavenge all of the reactor parts, you can also buy damaged parts at the scrap vendor which you couldn't before. I believe you are Toupsy, right? It's me, Magpie. The game is a bit harder now there's no instant win reactor. But it's still very possible. Keep at it and you'll get there. $44,000 by your third shift isn't much to sniff at.

You can buy used ships with working reactors. They are just expensive. I'm saving up for one right now.

Goto Commercial and talk to the ship kiosk, you can buy derelicts and used functional ships there.

Additionally, they are going for realism, that is obvious, and i actually find it quite fun. The difficulty curve is insane yes. The learning curve is insane, yes. That really don't make it any less fun, for me it makes it more fun and more immersive.

What isn't fun? The damnable frame hitches that started popping back up in force with the .5 update. Or my favorite from last night, undocking from kleg and being spawned under the surface of Ganymede.

Just because it's realistic and hard doesn't make it not fun. Just maybe not to you. And for that, I am sorry, however, if you keep working at it, it does get a lot easier, and a lot more fun, especially when you get into customizing your ship with salvaged upgrades and such.

To the Dev team at BB games. Keep up the good work, keep the game going in the direction that its going in. Some of use have great appreciation for the work and effort you've put into this game. Just for the love of all that is sacred PLEASE FIX THE HITCHING!

Too much commenting and not enough scrapping.... Trust me, you DON'T want to go to Venus fast. I'm not going to spoil it but Venus is a rough step-up from Ganymede and it's not even about the atmospheric stations. You ship needs to be ready and your character needs to be ready. Current pace of the game is actually pretty good.

Yeah could be. The old reactors aren't designed to work with the new reactors.

Anywhere else than Venus i can go to?
tritton82 Sep 3, 2024 @ 1:44pm
I think all other stations are a basic template, but they all have refueling, cargo, and a few other kiosks.

Anywhere with a strong gravity well, which we don’t have around OKLG, creates additional “complexity” in general navigation and scrapping, it’s like a “next level”. But from what I understood, currently, the Venus simply has more content than everything else beside Ganymede.
So it makes sense to go there but you need a ship that will comfortably fly on torch engine rather than pure rcs.

I asked the dev to make us a "how to" video for the new reactors. I love it when the game's designer or a member of the dev team show us how to do things in their game. It feels like if they are teaching us how to play their boardgame. Hope they do it.
