Trading using cargo modules.
Anyone figure this out? How is it? Worth it? I am not making enough $$ scrapping to even think of another ship and I have been playing every day since .14 came out.

Thx

It's not bad. Very easy to do (caveat below). Right now you can do cargo runs between OKLG and FLOT if you haven't got a fusion torch up and running.

>Buy or Salvage Cargo Pod, fancier cargo pods will take different cargos

> Install Cargo Pod on ship

> Access Cargo Kiosk, look for goods that are available at the station that are Red (more expensive) at your target station. Ideally these goods will also be green (cheaper) at your current station, but this might not be the case.

> Buy as much of the good as you want and transfer it to your cargo pod

> Travel to the other station, access the Cargo Kiosk and sell goods, Profit!

I thought the prices within the sector are the same, because the price overview doesn't show individual stations, just OKLG.

Or did I miss it somewhere? WHere was no scrolling either.

There's OKLG and OKLG_FLOT, they are right next to each other on the screen.

If you check the market, it'll basically tell you. You can make a decent buck it looks like but you definitely need to play the market (e.g., buy low, sell high) and I haven't seen yet if the prices fluctuate enough while you're in transit (still getting up the courage and the resources, gigs, etc. to head out and give it a whirl). There are some decent looking price differentials (like where you're buying it for -60-70% and selling for +50% or more.

Just remember that you need to invest in cargo pods that you need to attach to the outside of your ship (one of which is a cold storage cargo pod which requires power). So it'll take up outside space which affects your build. I got one of each pod and I'm just loading stuff in there to try to sell over at Venus going to try heading out soon.

Regarding funds, I highly recommend taking a gamble with low priced derelicts you have NOT visited. There are some (for me it's been like 1 in 10 or more) that end up being worth more once you set foot on them. Like one of the earliest derelicts I managed to afford to buy (it was like 200-300k) ended up being fully functional and intact enough that when I went back to the broker to sell it, I was able to sell it for like $1m. Just plain luck because I've gone through a bunch of derelicts that have almost nothing to offer (just some hull, junk, and maybe an N2 tank if I'm lucky). If you visit the derelict first, though, it'll get priced "right" and you won't get much more for it.
